Xbox launched in 2005, I mean come on man. Does it really take 6 years to bring out a new console? I heard that the new consoles are coming out in 2013-2015.

That seems about right, but if it only comes out in 2015 it'll have been 10 years.

10 years... That's like a 7th of your lifetime.

Meh, give it another 2 years. The Xbox 360 still feels like a relatively fresh piece of technology to me, and I'm sure there's still many innovative games that can be squeezed out of it. The last thinkg Microsoft is going to do is release a console just next year when the Kinect released just last year.

No reason for new consoles yet. I love this gen. Still a bunch of games I haven't played.

dose it take 6 years for new one? kinda ya. games can take 2+ years to make. it takes years for nintendo/sony/microsoft to even begin to make money off of them . I would like new consoles to come out. OLD tech holds devs back from even creating better games.

we don't need new consoles until at least 2014, anything sooner and it would barely be better than the 360.

I don't agree with this one.....Lots of new games are significantly better (Graphic-wise) on PC, and look like poop on consoles.

yea but console's are never up to PC standards when they are released, they would be to expensive to make and for most consumers to purchase. consoles are usually at least 2 years behind PC, so if a new Xbox console comes out in 2 years, it will prolly run what we are seeing on PC's right now.

be patient. you'll hear about new consoles at E3 in 2013. Xbox and Playstation are both probably going to announce something. 2011 was about Kinect and Move, just to hold us over. Nintendo has already announced the WiU (which is still not as powerful as the xbox360 or ps3, surprise surprise). Also sony is bringing out the new Vita handheld too. So just be patient man, Microsoft will have something better than Kinect games in 2012

from what I have read from developers that are working on Wii U titles, it is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3 but it's not enough of a jump to be considered "next-gen" more of a catchup and barely surpassing for a year or two until Sony and Microsoft come out with their true next-gen consoles.

Why? What makes you want a new console so bad? Kids these days and their ADD and ADHD...

I love the Xbox 360 and PS3. I have a respectable collection of games for both of them. I they came out with a new console tomorrow, I wouldn't buy it until they stopped making Xbox and PS3 games. Unless it was a hybrid system that would allow you to play both Xbox 360 and PS3 games, but this magical hybrid would NEVER happen. Microsoft and Sony would lose all their profit.

I don't want to be 22 years old when the next console comes out, the one after that I'll probably 32.

I'm just like wtf that's half my life.

Here's an idea. Don't waste your life sitting around waiting for new consoles. Just enjoy the games as they come.

I'm not really to bothered about a new console coming out, infact I hope they hold off as long as possible. You might be excited about shelling out nearly 300 on a new console all over again (and it will be 300, mark my words) but some of us cant afford it with the way things are atm. Which is probably part of the reasoning behind not bringing a new one out by now not to mention the millions MS spent on marketing kinect (and sony with the move), bringing a new console out now would undermine those efforts.

lol, first the so called recession is not stopping people from buying . ALSO consoles stay on the market for a while. they aren't like a cell phone that gets scraped by the end of the year. kinect can do even better for a new console, by bundling every console with one, increasing possibility of third party devs doing games for it and driving sales up for kinect games. With that note kinect 2 needs to get some better cameras and processors

$300???? If that was the launch price of the Next XBOX or PS4, they would sell millions on launch day. I hate to break it to you, but with the likelyhood that the new consoles are going to have hardware that will be somewhat comparable to todays higher end PC's, you can be assured that the next generation of consoles will run atleast $500-600 and maybe even more. Why do you think there are so many people jumping ship from consoles to play their games on PC? I mean seriously, outside of a few exclusives, you can buy a PC that will smoke any console out there, hook it up to the HDTV that you already own, buy a wireless M/KB and a gaming headset and you are set. Heck, there are even tons of games that will fully support a XBOX 360 or PS3 controller for alot of the multiplat games like Batman AC, NBA 2K12 and others.

LOL!!!!!!!!!

u clearly have no understanding of technology, nor were u even at E3 this year (i was!!!) Wii U will be many times more powerful, but until we see a bigger change in hardware from Msoft and sony, the wii u will be lumped with cross ports with new control schemes again (but this time the graphics will actually be better on the nintendo system, no need to sacrifce AA or resolution).

wait and see :D

I agree. I'm ready for the new gen and have been for some time. This gen has become stagnant. Everything that's being released is the same as what's come before. Those that don't want the new console, wouldn't have to buy it. I hope it'll be released at some point in 2012.

I would bet anything that the next gen consoles will not retail for over $450, and probably will be less than that. The entire industry saw the disaster that happened when the PS3 launched at $600. I think a $400 console is probably the most we will see.

I live in a third world country I make R20 an hour (just over $2 an hour) and I can afford a Xbox360.

If you can't do that in a first world country I want to know what drug you blow your cash on, cause it must be amazing.

I'm having fun with my 360, and after playing Skyrim I know it's still capable of great quality games.

Again 600€ for a system that will keep me at my toes wondering if the RRoD are back? No thanks.

It's true, I live in South Africa. I made a mistake with the conversions though it's more like $4. From what I've heard minimum wage in America is $300 a week. I could do a lot with that money.

Minimum wage in South Africa is R12.50, so I'm happy to be earning what I earn.

http://www.mywage.co.za/main/minimum-wages/domestic-workers-wages

Minimum wage for domestic workers is even less.

I want the new console, because tesselation is awesome, but, because this gen can't do tesselation, barely any devs willing to invest in true DX11 quality games. With a new console improving the standard, I can finally see real DX11 games.magicalclick

its not because this gen can't, it can (xbox 360 can), its just that devs DONT WANT to put the effort in

The Xbox is still running it's course. There are many great games to play so just enjoy them and wait for the next-box... Though it would be awesome to hear a little something about the next-box.

How? Xbox 360 doesn't support DX11. I think it just has some modified type of DX9.

Why would M$ create a new console and kill the 360? It's still reeling in money and with Xbox Live you have added revenue there as well. Games are still great and are just now beginning to really push the 360 to its limits and I for one love that. It'll be a year or 2 in the new console cycle before developers really get the hang of it and start producing great games. Economically it would make more sense for them to delay the next Xbox for a little while longer. We're in a recession here, most people will not be that excited to purchase a new console.

I can wait another two years or so. So many games are coming out still and I have a large back log of games.

[QUOTE="magicalclick"]I want the new console, because tesselation is awesome, but, because this gen can't do tesselation, barely any devs willing to invest in true DX11 quality games. With a new console improving the standard, I can finally see real DX11 games.x-2tha-z

its not because this gen can't, it can (xbox 360 can), its just that devs DONT WANT to put the effort in

How? Xbox 360 doesn't support DX11. I think it just has some modified type of DX9.

NO CONSOLE SUPPORTS DX, its a PC API thingo. look it up on google, but hte 360 can do tesselation but it always gets forgotten about. heck, some old GPUS could do it as well but it was never taken advantage of. tesselation IS NOT NEW.

It is the state of the worldwide ecomony more than anything that is delaying the next generation of consoles. Microsoft is hoping by 2013 the economy will be improved enough by then.

I would like the third Xbox to be released, but MS is playing it safe by waiting until things improve.

No kidding. Heck, nearly a million 360s (I believe 960,000 is the exact number) were sold on Black Friday alone. The 360 is still going strong.

Actually the xbox 360 does use a modified version of DirectX (try and remember its a microsoft thing) as did the original xbox, its one of the things that draws devs in since its common use on pcs makes it easier to develop games with it

ok, yes its true that it uses a similar form of direct X (in this case Direct3D), but its become so different from PC DX since the consoles are fixed hardware and PCs can keep changing that a lot of the stuff u couldnt do in DX9 on a PC can be achieved with work arounds on the 360 (ie tesselation)

I used to think that we didn't need new consoles, but after playing BF3 maxed out on my PC, it is quite clear that we are ready to move on. In fact, I bought it for my 360 first and hated it. However all of the reasons I disliked it (too few people, maps to big, graphics sucked), were not on the PC version so I bought that too. It is a completely different game and is many times better on the PC. It is surely time to move on.

I just looked up the specs of the 360 GPU and it was listed that it had.... "Support for a superset of DirectX 9.0c API DirectX Xbox 360, and Shader Model 3.0+" Can you find anything that would suggest the 360 can do tesselation? My GTX 295 doesn't do it and it's much better than the 360's GPU.

It's a double edged sword. I'm hoping for Fall 2013. i love my 360 and I think there could be a good 'nother two years provided a sub-$200 price drop is in order for 2012.

Why? What makes you want a new console so bad?

penpusher

I don't want to be 22 years old when the next console comes out, the one after that I'll probably 32.

I'm just like wtf that's half my life.

So what? Dude its not like its an age restricted medium outside of ignorant social stereo types :S Why would your age be even the slightest concern?

What Penpusher said.
