My 360 is broken and out of warrenty so instead of paying the money to get it fixed i have thought of a master plan. im going to buy a new 360 from wal-mart and switch it with mine and return it. do you think this will work? does aanyone know if they check the serial number on the 360 and if they do how would they know if its the right serial number or not because it doesnt say on the receipt does it?

anyways... the people at wal-mart are fat old ladys who dont know anything so i think it will work since i have returned many games without a receipt that i have bought from a flea market used for like 10 bucks and i make like 60 bucks out of it.

if you have a problem of me doing this, you are soft and dont reply because walmart is the second richest company in the world and who cares if they lose $500. thats like a penny for them

Why waste your time? I do however commend this decision (which I've done before with other consoles). Xbox just recently released an extended 3 year warranty on all 360's. And FREE shipping.

the warranty ran out? how does a 3 year warranty run out on a console that's been out less than 2 years? you got a time machine? and yes you'll get caught, easily. the manufacture date is listed right next to the serial number, and they know the dates and number of what they had in stock. the serial number will be scanned and on the reciept.

??? perhaps you could claim the shouldn't, but i know for a fact they can. go to the electronins section and look at their video and sound cards, you notice that some boxes are opened, the seals are broken. i bought a sound card because it was the only place open at night to get one, and even the tamper proof static resistant bag was open. the driver disk was missing and the screw. no biggie the drivers are online and i have a screw on the slot cover i had to remove. the sound card worked fine, but it clearly had been returned.

So your telling me, if you just bought a 360 and it was broken, you wouldn't be pissed off. I mean if it happened to me I would probably have to break something (not already broken of course)

they check serial numbers.. ;)

the only similar thing you could do is take ervything out of one, and change them that way.. but that's a pain in the arse, and who knows if it'd even work.

Do what you have to do to take care of yourself...but if they catch you...i am not sure what they would do. If you got the red rings of death, you are automatically covered by MS 3 year warranty.

The only problem is that the serial # is visible through the box, and is also on the receipt. You do run the risk of getting caught. It is Fraud, and Wal-Mart has been know to prosecute. I'm not going to tell you not to do it, just be aware that there are 3 possible outcomes.

1. It works as planeed, go get over on Wal-Mart.

2. You get caught, but they don't prosecute and simply refuse to accept the return, in which case you are going to have to either keep the new 360 or admit that you tried to switch them out and bring back the new one (which would be an admission of guilt and probably lead to the third option).

3. You get caught, and they do prosecute. You have to get a lawyer and it cost a lot of $$ to stay out of trouble.

If you think it is worth the risk go right ahead.

they cant restock the returned items...xboxlover175

I was going to buy a 360 from walmart in January, only to find out after I bought it that it was already opened. I returned it and got one from EB. They often restock returned stuff, whether they are supposed to or not. (Actually, I just returned my 2nd one since the DVD drive died... there goes my PRP =P)

Speaking of missing hard drives... when I exchanged my 360 today I got to keep my old ethernet cable and headset... I guess I can sell the headset back to them for a few bucks :)

I returned an Xbox360 wireless controller battery about a month ago to Wal-Mart. What happened was, they needed to check my ID (can't remember if they took any numbers off it), and they needed my phone number also. So they'de probably call you if you ripped them off.

To RocklandUSA: It's nice to see someone with some common sympathy once in a while, cheers bro

I did this with the PS1 years ago...twice, no problem at K-mart. I think its a good idea, and they won't prosecute you. All you have to do is keep saying that you didn't switch anything, and you have NO IDEA why the serial numbers don't match. Don't admit guilt, and your good. Chances are that all they will do is check to see if the contents are there, then scan the barcode, and give you your refund. BEAT THE MAN!!!

Call me soft, that's fine and great. Bottom line, you're dishonest and therefor you suck. Don't try to alieve the guilt by saying how rich Wal-Mart is. That has nothing to do with the fact you're still dishonest and a thief. For everyone on here promoting this thief, please when you have children and they grow up to be just like you (maybe worse as it's obvious they aren't going to learn a whole lot of good morals from there parents), please make them were a shirt or something that signifies they have no morals, that way it will be easier to make sure my children don't associate with them.

Let the flames begin, I'm fine with that as I'm content to be apparently one of the few here with pride, self worth and dignity.

I'm going to sell a clothing line that reads as such. ;) But seriously, that is pretty lame. Nebs are always hating on "X Corp" because they're successful, and it really p's my o. Theivery is theivery no matter who who steal from... the only one with a license to steal is Robin Hood.

i kinda agree with you, but you don't need to put yourself on a pedistal. I don't see why the TC can't just wait for the red lights if it is broken it should happen and send it to get repaired, then trade it in or sell it on ebay for most of your money back. thats the decent thing to do. but in all honesty if i could get away with buying a new one, putting my broken one in and getting full refund, I would probably do it.

and about you saying no morals blah blah blah, I'm sure your not perfect, nor are your morals. And you can't prove it either because morals are subjective. This might not make sense to you guys but if you think about it, killing, stealing and all that other crap is normal, it happens all throughout this world and mother nature. animals kill other animals, and sometimes the same species as themselves. We do the exact same thing. we are no different than animals otherwise there would be no killing or any of that, but sadly we do kill since its in our nature. its only through our higherintelligence that we have come to think of all these things as wrong. Which don't get me wrong is all for the better. I'm glad we have morals, i just hate the way some people view them as divine truths or something.

That ONLY applies to the 3 red light problem, not other issues that the 360 have. So the warranty provided when purchasing the 360 or a extended one you buy from EB or something is really handy.

I also agree with you and just to put this to fact no one in the whole wide world is perfect, not even Ned Flanders from the Simpsons. The ten commandments are like, how do you put this - toughest goal when you gotta face everyday of life.

Microsoft can sometimes or always be a pain because they don't respond to you immediatley when they are most needed especially with the phone queue, got someone saying that they waited like 50 Minutes for a operator. They should really make some sort of site linked with the post offices so it will tell you where your shipment of the 360 is located at and estimated time until it arrives back home. One of the most hated things I hate in the world are things made from China, they simply can't be reliable or trusted as they break so ****ing damn easily.

While I agree with the last few posters about morals being subjective I also see it somewhat black and white on the basic ones at least.

If you can honestly answer these questions with a yes then I would find it harder to argue. I also might question your age as with age I think a different understanding comes in.

1. Do you think it's right to teach your child to lie?

2. Do you think it's right to teach your child to steal?

3. Do you think it's right to teach your child to be dishonest?

If you say yes, I still may not believe you because it's instilled in the vast majority of people that lying, stealing and cheating are inherantly wrong. The people out there that teach there children to do things like this are the same ones that are in jail for teaching there children to kill other people.

Come on, even if you are a person that says screw the world, and I'll get what I can for myself no matter the cost. Inside you still must know it's not the right thing to do, you just don't care enough not to do it. Telling. It's like dishonesty is the new norm and everyone else sucks and is a wuss.

As far as holding myself on a pedistal, I don't. I've done wrong in my life ( a lot of it )and in hindsight I really wish I'd had more positive influences when I was younger to make me a better person growing up. Sadly I didn't and it wasn't until I got older do I now realize I was a delinquent who deserved to get my butt beat weekly. Also the world is a lot different than when I grew up. Today it seems more than the majority of younger people have absoluetely no respect for others, think they should have the world handed to them because they deserve it. Think that being dishonest and a thug makes you cool, it's pathetic. Then to come on a public forum and all you do is see others rooting a dishonest thief on... go go go gogo..... I'd do it. Steal, lie... awesome...lol.. roflcptr it's great to screw the system. Lets make excuses why it's ok to be a thief.

When I was a kid were we bad? yes of course. Is the decline still going down.. you bet it is. And personally I would like to think my children are not going to be down there with a whole lot of other people because no one cares about the right thing anymore.

Again, I'll be happy to be the outcast.

i kinda agree with you, but you don't need to put yourself on a pedistal.

Pointing out criminal activities does not constitute riding my high-horse, which is happily stabled right now. We are not animals. We may be mammals, but we are not animals. That reasoning leads to a slippery slope that depreciates individualism and humanism.

Shame on you...stealing from a multi-billion dollar corporation that sells merchandise made in sweatshops by children. You must be the most selfish, evil person in the world.

Reading between the lines I see "You shouldn't even step one foot in the door to those places because they promote unethical practices that are appalling to you". or... "two wrongs don't make a right". Which one were you going for?

Again, looking for ways to justify your own unethical practices doesn't in any way make it right. So they suck, don't support them. Never ever shop there, have a little self pride. Try to persuade others to stear clear of there as well. Be the better person, the bigger man. Know that you're one step up the ladder from them because you recognize there downfall and chose not to participate or support them. But that doesn't in any way say you should sink down to there level.

Actually you know, I'm not sure how I got sucked into this conversation. I've known people are how they are for a long time. It's clear the way the world is going and me here preaching on the boards to people i'm pretty sure could care less is accomplishing nothing. I'm going to retire back into my fantasy world now and enjoy it. Have fun stealing, lying and basically just being an all around bad person or friend to others.

At some point in your life you'll get screwed over enough and not like it much, maybe at that point you'll either go nuts with vengeance or try to be responsible and make sure you're not doing it to others. And for your children, I honestly hope you come around before they are looking to you for guidance.

What Im saying is that Wal-Mart would be getting what they deserve. And refusing to shop at Wal-Mart does not make u a better person. In todays economy many people barely get by and rely on places like Wal-Mart. Its the corporations faults for being filled with greed and buying from countries without freetrade agreements. The entire world would benefeit if corporations stepped up their standards and were willing to make less money but we all know this will never happen so F*CK EM ALL.

My 2 Cents
