It was a great game IMO, so here's my points.
1. Probably one of the few RTS games where I felt wasn't a chore playing the single player campaign.
2. However, the game is probably one of, if not the most simplistic RTS game out there.
3. Coop is alright, but don't think that it's great. I only found it worth while when you're playing with a good friend.
4. Only 2 playable factions.
5. Don't expect to micro-manage a whole lot, if ever really.
But to me, see if you can get it used, or for around $40ish I'd say, since I really wouldn't considering it a $60 purchase.
If you are willing to buy anything with "Halo" on the title, no matter how mediocre, be my guest.

Geez guy. You've got a real hard on for hating Halo. I know it's not the best series but come on. You have to see Halo Wars for what it is, A light strategy game that is accessible and playable to the average gamer. I mean my girlfriend and my pot smoking, Madden playing friends can play it and have fun lol.
But you're bashing it for what it isn't. A deep and complex game full of micromanaging large amounts of resources, troops and structures. With battles that can last for days and eat up lots of time. Personally I love huge conquests and the like but not everyone is into that nor do they have the time.
But it seems that you get a kick out of bad mouthing games like halo Wars and the people that play them so I doubt that you'll get anything out of this post.
But i do have a question. If Halo Wars was named Starcraft Wars or Command & Conquer Wars but, still played the same way; would everyone still bash it? Or is it just the Halo name?

I don't hate the Halo series. It is just irritated when good rts games get completely ignored, while Ensemble releases a lacking, simple rts, getting praised by many gamers. If Halo Wars was named Starcraft or CC wars, then it would most likely be ignored by the average gamer (and I would still keep away from it).[QUOTE="Shika_Stoner"]

Some people might not want to spend $50 for a moderate, casual game when we can get a better, older one ofr like, what, $15, maybe 10. Graphics usually don't matter for RTSs, considering you never look less than 20 feet away at the character models.

No matter how good it is. I say let Ensemble make a high grossing mainstream game. Let em' go out with a bang ya know?
I do kind of like how RTS games aren't as popular as shooters or sports. It just means that their prices drop faster than others. The great ones always get real cheap real fast lol.
COD4 still sells for around $30+ new and it's been out since 07. You can get Red Alert 3 for about the same and it came out last October i think. XD
Oh yeah...No offense Vashnkey person but I think you missed my point. people tend to bash Halo, Call of Duty and Gears just because they think it makes them cool. I meant that if Halo Wars had been made by Blizzard or Westwood but, still played the exact same way that Halo Wars does now. Would people still make fun of it?

And that my friend is what demos, reviews and the used game section at your local gamestop is for. (I know that area very well) And about graphics...Come on man you can't really believe that. Without good graphics all the game would consist of is *you moving your pixels and polygons to your enemie's and watch them disappear.*
Have you ever gone back to one of those really old ones you used to love and thought to yourself "Oh my god! This looks awful, I can't believe there was a time when I thought this game looke uber realistic and intense* ^_^
