Call of Duty 4 Weapon Upgrade Help!!

i was wondering, in call of duty 4 do the weapons upgrade in multiplayer? i know that you can pick your weapons in the custom class settings but im talking about the normal classes that u start out with (assault, spec ops, sniper, etc) or do the weapons in those classes stay the same? also, i was wondering why the russian guys in multiplayer spawn with m-16's, mp5's etc. instead of ak47's, skorpions, u get the point.

The default classes never change, and no one uses them other than the first couple ranks.

prestige mode resets your rank so you can lvl up again. it gives you a new type of emblem for every rank too. im not sure if you get to keep the weapons you've unlocked though...luke182777

you start over pretty much. you lose your weapons, challenges, etc and have to earn them back. i haven't actually gotten that far yet (still on 54.....) but i'm sure that's what happens.

Are the ranks (Private , Captain...) still the same, or do they change after prestige mode?
