CoD Elite is a monthly subscription service that will give people extra content such as map packs and whatnot that won't be available through other means. I think Activision's greed may be it's undoing with the release of such a service. What do you guys think? Is anybody interested in this service? Just curious what you guys think about it.

I didn't realize that it had been posted. (I don't read system wars), but I couldn't agree more. I hope it destroys Activision. It's wrong on so many levels.

Damn, IMO that is sooo rude. Especially for users on the 360. AND we pay so much for the game too.

Personally, no I will not. I am going to be buying BF3 and move over to that series. I loved playing BF2 and am sure that BF3 will be even better. EA games already have this type of detail and they don't cost extra. It is a pretty cool idea, but Activision is already sucking money out of every pore.

they already charge extra for the game than any other game over here. any other game brand new: £40, call of duty games brand new: £45, and now they want us to pay for a service very similar to bungie.net/halo waypoint which are both free. well technically they arent free but you get my meaning. its bull**** if you ask me. ill still get MW3 but im going nowhere near this

It's an in detail stat tracker and theater/video manager, most of it will be free but some of it will cost a fee, but it's gonna be somewhere between $5 and $7 a month and you get all the new map packs free, their not gonna make maps specifically for the people with the service, it's not gonna be a subscription based content portal, it's gonna be a stat tracker and let you watch games, edit video's things like that from your computer and/or mobile device.

I think it's lame. I decided long ago to get BF3 over MW3 anyway.

If I was on the fence this would have made my decision easier.

why? it's optional, most of it is free, and it will change absolutely nothing. People are blowing this way out of proportion, almost acting like their gonna charge a monthly fee to play online. All COD:Elite is, is an advanced tool to study your own performance and find other people playing a game that likes the same things you like, and paying the subscription will give you access to the online contest's and tournaments.

Eh i take it back... just saw the video. so its a bit different but it doesn't look like its worth the monthly payment.

It's brilliant and everyone should support it.

Multiplayer will still be free and if you want expanded features you have to pay for them, it's the perfect balance.

There is no reason at all to be against this

besides the fact that we allready pay 60 for the game, and xbox gamers pay to play online as is, add into that with how now people will have an advantage by buying guns/perks that you dont its nothing but a money grab, theres no reason to support this whats so ever, we support this and we can say hello to full game price hikes and all multiplayer games adopting a pay to play scheme, yea im not supporting that and neither should you

Why do you feel the need to make things up that haven't been said?

You're not paying to play the games, multiplayer is free

The only difference is that for people who love the games and want every single detail on how they can get better they can for a price, something that couldn't be justified before because they had no idea who would do it.

So let's break it down...

Multiplayer is still free
If you'd like more stats about your game you can pay a fee

Again but using the facts now, how is this bad?

Actually you are the one making up things that have not been said. Not all the features have even been revelead yet, yet you are saying that this service is brilliant? We don't even know the price yet. Extra stats are not a reason to pay more money. I am all about supporting extra content, but until I know the frequency and quantity of these extra maps and other features I'm not going to take a stance on it either way because that would be "making up things that haven't been said."

No because from what I've seen so far, it seems like it's going to be for the very hardcore players of the franchise. But I could be wrong. I've signed up for the beta so if I get in, I'll have a more concrete opnion.

Paying for features that companies have been doing since games like Halo 2? No thanks, stay greedy Activision. I can understand companies are always looking into new ways to make more money off of products, but some moron thought this idea was so revolutionary that gamers should be charged for this.

We pay for online and Activision are great buddies with Microsoft. I would like to see us get this free. Monthly fee for this? No deal. 800 MSP as a ONE TIME FEE, maybe.

wow finally activision has reached the highest amount of cash they can squeeze out of one stale old franchise... fanboys please don't start here because i think after this new stunt by activision is a bit too much... paying for the game itself...paying for live...and now added costs....WOW

Mau-Justice

That's what I'm hoping for. I've been trying to convince some friends to get BF3 over it, and this should make it easier.

To me, this sets a dangerous precedent, considering from what it looks like so far a lot of that information has already been available as a part of other games for free. If this takes off, it worries me that other companies could take out previously free portions of their games and start charging for them. Not to mention this seems to me like more of a markettest to see if the COD market would actually be willing to pay a subscription for it.

like some people have said, the stat tracking bit will most likely be free, like halo waypoint and bungie.net, itll be the more premium content that you have to pay for. things like uploading videos and stuff. which in all honesty isnt that bad, i wont pay for it obviously but i can see how it would be useful for pros and youtubers and stuff.

"I think Activision hopes to get up to 1 million subscribers this year," says Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities, who predicted the company would begin offering a subscription service for "Call of Duty" last year. "From there, they hope to get it up to 3 million next year, then up to 5 million. Over time, they'd like to migrate everyone over to it."

'Eventually' they are gonna move everyone to Elite. O how nice of them. So one day, if you play COD, your gonna have to pay for the extra service. Its simple...dont support it and it wont happen.

Interesting, so you're either under the impression that...

1. Everyone involved with the game makes billions

or

2. They make enough and you feel that people shouldn't make more money then you decide

If it's the first one I'd ask you to research the subject at greater length, if it's the second I find it funny that you feel you have any right to dictate how much money anyone makes that isn't you.

This tells me everything I need to know about you. If you support this type of move so much why don't you volunteer to pay extra for your membership? This is only the beginning of this sort of thing that we will see for now, if it goes well you can expect a lot more extra fees.

the developers themselves get little to no money at all from this, they have probably recieved little increase in pay since cod2, It is the publishers greed which I am talking about. And If you think that a franchise that makes that much money isn't required to start throwing in extras such as dedi servers and online services. Then I suggest you stop kissing the boots of activision, a corrupt company who fired half its work force when it didn't come through with pay promises, for the sake of arguing.

This subscription money isn't going to any of the people who make it. its going straight into the pockets of the publishers.

They're offering a service... there's nothing forcing you to pay for Elite in order to keep playing COD MP, at least as far as they've said. If this turns into a "you must pay to play MP" type of situation, okay, terrible idea and it'll fail miserably. But, if people are willing to pay extra to get these additional features -- i.e. if it's worth it -- why would you blame Activision for offering it? As long as they don't neglect the free (which is a misnomer... we pay for friggin XBL...) multiplayer modes, I don't see a problem with it.

You pay for a monthly subscription+paying for mapacks when they are released+the game+xbox live subscrition--if you own a 360=HELLLLLLLLL NO!

Map packs are free if you pay the subscription, it clearly says that.
