Can someone say pretty full of BS?

After reading this short article here http://stars.ign.com/articles/870/870053p6.html where the auther clearly says that Niko from GTA is the greatest character to ever grace any console. Should be definatly beaten half to death. I mean sh*t I know the game is overly hyped because it'll be released soon just like Halo 2 was. But this game isn;t all that great. Quite honestly I'd rather have MGS4 than any GTA title. These idiots havn't even played the game to begin with. So how can they just nominate him as the greatest character ever on a console? Only an idiot fan boy would say something like that.

But I get the idea that this guy has never played any other video game in his life besides GTA titles. Especially if he thinks this lame looking ordinary character is the greatest. Might as well say James Saunderland from Silent Hill 2 is the greatest character ever on a console. After all he was ordinary looking, had no special powers. The only difference was he being haunted down by the Pyrimid head in a strange town. Rather than being chased down by police officers in a busy city full of people.

I doubt GTA will have different MPCs. At least Shenmue was bold enough to make everyone look different. GTA IV is just another over hyped game people will forget about 2 months after everyone has played it. If anything I still want to play MGS4 or Fable 2. The less hyped a game is, the better.

All I have to say is, Niko is dull looking. Just because the guy is European does not make him any different from the other GTA main characters. Obviously he does the same exact stuff all the other protagonist did. So greatest chacter ever? I don't f**** think so!

Get behind Leon (Resident Evil, Solid Snake (MGS), Dante (DMC), Ryu (ninja Gaiden), Cloud (FF7), Belmonts (Castlevania), and all the other true greatest console characters ever made. Characters that are actually different with personality.

I agree with the TC. I can't see how Niko can be the greatest character ever, it really is absurd.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series and considers Solid Snake to be the greatest video game character ever, but that is just my "fanboy spirit" talking.

It's clear that the author of that article was a huge fan of GTA4, no harm there... just take it as rant about how great that game is written.

No way do I think he's the best character in video game history, but the game can still be amazing ;)

And... I'd have to say maybe, Link could be the best? Very debatable.

I haven't played the game yet so I wouldnt know. But I dont think Niko will be my favorite character to grace any console. He might be one of my favorites but that's it. Jenny from The Darkness still holds a place in my heart. :PElann2008

The Darkness had some of the best characters ever. Jenny, Jackie, and even the Darkness itself!

I haven't played GTA IV yet, so I won't discuss the main character just yet.

I agree that the cast from The Darkness is really good. Mass Effect is littered with memorable characters -

Wrex, Tali, Ashley.. all great.

Yep, all great characters. Assassin's Creed's Altair, and Phoenix Wrights, Phoenix and Godot. Kain from Lost Odyssey. So many great characters, but I don't know if you can call any one character 'best' character.
