can the Arcade do XBL without a HDD?

looking to get a 360 for my bros bday for him, i hear the arcades come with 256mb flash memory now, so ppl could download NXE

i was wondering, he may not wanna buy a HDD at first, will the 256mb memory allow him to download updates and such to play and pay for XBL online? not familiar with 360 as of right now myself

i imaggine Xbox BC is out of the question, but can it play games online at least? thanks

There's no point in an xbox 360 without a hard drive. I don't understand why they even sell it that way except as a way to get people who got RROD a new xbox for cheaper than $299!

I just bought an arcade and can play online. The built in 256mb is enough space for the update. If he wants to download games, demos, or videos he's gonna have to buy a hard drive though.

You must have new Jasper chipset model.Were you able to save your profile within the 256mb and play online then?

Yeah, I think the download size for the update was 128mb. So that left me with enough space to save my profile.

The NXE takes up 128mb, and a gamertag starts off very small, but grows over time - I think mine is around 12mb now. The memory card will allow you to download some XBLA games, but now the size limit isn't really followed there will be a lot of content that you cannot download because it simply won't fit. If you want to play online it can be done with just the memory unit, but again you really will want to have the harddrive
