It was a bit on the short side. Especially on casual. And compared to a game like R6 Vegas, it was short but still great.
I also agree that the single player is too short. I think it was brilliant, except for the driving sequence, but yeah too short.gatsbythepiglol i hated the driving sequence

That part felt like it was designed around a co-op. Buddy of mine and I did it togethor and it was a lot more fun. I drove, he shot the crap outta the Kryll. Good times.
i thought it was short hte first time i played it through.
the second time i played it through it didn't seem as short as before.
the third time i played it through seemed really long because killing the last boss took FOREVER and many swear words.
My last impression: if i can beat it three times in under two weeks then yea it might be a little short.
Yeah it is short but 10-12 hours is pretty average for a first person shooter. That is pretty much what I expected out of it when I got it.wtfandyk
Gears isn't a first person shooter.
I find it slightly irritating that I ALWAYS hear about how short Gears of war is, and such...
It's not an RPG... It is not meant to be a 60 hour game..
And yes, I would have LOVED it to be longer... But most action games don't last more then 20 hours TOPS these days anyways...
Sure, there are a few exceptions...
Bottom line is, if you want to squeeze more time out of a game, play it and beat it in it's hardest difficulty.
Halo 2 was shorter then Gears to me...
Quite honestly, I'm more disappointed in it's mediocre online/ranked play then the single player game.
Though there wasn't really a lot of story, and it was slightly short, I really enjoyed Gears of war while it lasted... But the online is just irritating.. They have it set up like there's servers, but yet they take that annoying halo 2 rout and give one person host for some stupid reason... The ranked matches don't pit people of the same caliber together, but anyone who plays can play against anyone.. Which just creates rape for anyone who doesn't play that much..
I really thought Gears had things going for it... The well placed maps, weapons, etc... The great gameplay... Its just sad it didn't deliver for me in the multiplayer department like I wanted it to..

thank you. Some of these people act like they never played a FPS in their life. Just because they play a few rare ones with storylines like Half Life they think every shooter in the world has to be as long as an RPG, its mind boggling. A FPS can be anywhere from 5hr to 12hrs anymore than that and you got a long FPS game that probably has RPG elements in it like Deus Ex. The avg game these gen is 10-20hrs. Hell, DMC, Resident Evil type games that everyone drooled over could be beaten in 3-6hrs and no one complained.

Yeah i total agree with the resident evil comment. I can beat RE:1 in 2 hrs and 53 minutes but its a still a great game because of replay vaule. Thats all a game really needs to be great. I beat god of war 2 in five days but it had good game none the less.

Yeah, it was short, but I liked that. I MUCH prefer the game to be shorter and be really fun and intense than long and drawn out to the point of tedium.
