I agree comletely. I rented the game and had finished it within the week, and it's not like I played it day in and day out. Maybe 10-12 hours total.

Still a great game but too short.

If it was any longer, it would feel dragged out, if it was any shorter people would feel it came to an abrupt end. It was just right. Im sick of hearing it was too short. You want to play a game for forever, go get Oblivion or something. Leave it.

I think it is just perfect, I hate long games, like movies too. After awhile I'm just like hurry up and end already.

Yea, I think the length of the single player game is just fine.   I Hate really long games and movies.  Whenever something is really long, that means that they are dragging a concept out too far.

if you ask me, if they made the single player any longer it would of delayed gears of war for a while. Untill june 2007 or later. There just shaping up for gow2 really but still a great game none the less.

It was a bit on the short side.  Especially on casual.  And compared to a game like R6 Vegas, it was short but still great.

Yes the single player is short but it has very good replayiblity as I have played it about 3 times all the way through and then it also has great online. I would expect a lot out of the sequels new guns, longer campaign, more to the online all that good stuff

That part felt like it was designed around a co-op.  Buddy of mine and I did it togethor and it was a lot more fun.  I drove, he shot the crap outta the Kryll.  Good times.

I agree. Playing it on hard will extend it a while only because you'll probably die a few times before you finish.

Yeah it is short but 10-12 hours is pretty average for a first person shooter. That is pretty much what I expected out of it when I got it.

Better have a campaign that is short and sweet than one that is long and boring. Plus I found it to be average length (compared to FPS these days).

i thought it was short hte first time i played it through.

the second time i played it through it didn't seem as short as before.

the third time i played it through seemed really long because killing the last boss took FOREVER and many swear words.

My last impression: if i can beat it three times in under two weeks then yea it might be a little short.

Yes, definitely.  Speaking of short single player, Gears 2 really needs to be at least 2 to 3 times as long as the original.  And I mean "seriously".

It's not that the game was too short, it's that the difficulty was too simple, me and my brother wrapped the game on all 3 difficulties in 3 days.:D

I find it slightly irritating that I ALWAYS hear about how short Gears of war is, and such...

It's not an RPG... It is not meant to be a 60 hour game..

And yes, I would have LOVED it to be longer... But most action games don't last more then 20 hours TOPS these days anyways...

Sure, there are a few exceptions...

Bottom line is, if you want to squeeze more time out of a game, play it and beat it in it's hardest difficulty.

Halo 2 was shorter then Gears to me...

Quite honestly, I'm more disappointed in it's mediocre online/ranked play then the single player game.

Though there wasn't really a lot of story, and it was slightly short, I really enjoyed Gears of war while it lasted... But the online is just irritating.. They have it set up like there's servers, but yet they take that annoying halo 2 rout and give one person host for some stupid reason... The ranked matches don't pit people of the same caliber together, but anyone who plays can play against anyone.. Which just creates rape for anyone who doesn't play that much..

I really thought Gears had things going for it... The well placed maps, weapons, etc... The great gameplay... Its just sad it didn't deliver for me in the multiplayer department like I wanted it to..

thank you. Some of these people act like they never played a FPS in their life. Just because they play a few rare ones with storylines like Half Life they think every shooter in the world has to be as long as an RPG, its mind boggling. A FPS can be anywhere from 5hr to 12hrs anymore than that and you got a long FPS game that probably has RPG elements in it like Deus Ex. The avg game these gen is 10-20hrs. Hell, DMC, Resident Evil type games that everyone drooled over could be beaten in 3-6hrs and no one complained.

When you're playing on insane it can't be over soon enough. Meh, it was a bit short but the facts that I purchased the 360 for Gears and don't regret the purchase and as well, the amount of times I've been through the game ( co-op is the bomb ) speak for themselves.

Yeah i total agree with the resident evil comment. I can beat RE:1 in 2 hrs and 53 minutes but its a still a great game because of replay vaule. Thats all a game really needs to be great. I beat god of war 2 in five days but it had good game none the less.

its very short, a one day thing with your friend and i'm not upset with that kind of result. I mean, who wants to postpone gaming excellence for just one more day. Gears of War is fun with a friend for a few hours and then you're right; off to the online. And the online is not perfect and addictive; it is in bad need of servers like www.teamxbox.com suggested in their "An Inconvenient Truth" about xbox live.

Yeah, it was short, but I liked that.  I MUCH prefer the game to be shorter and be really fun and intense than long and drawn out to the point of tedium.
