We don't.

At least, for the past six months I've seen retailers drop prices of new games to match the US prices. GTA4 was $60 on release, just like the US. Same with Ninja Gaiden 2 and MGS4 and everything else released recently. Persona 3 FES was the same $30 as the states, same with the MGS collection.

Where we do get screwed, of course, is with Microsoft points. They're still $15.50CDN plus tax online for 1000 points, and I think the US equivalent is $12 or so. It's moderately cheaper to buy point cards, but that's still more than the US rate.

They also charge more points per movie rental than they do in the US, so a 580 point HD movie rental comes out to almost $10CDN, which is f'ing insane. What a bunch of **bleep** gobblers.

In Quebec we pay like 60,00$ for a game wich is kind of good I think. But yet the most overpriced products are still the cars and the gas price wich is now 1,50$ per litre.

But our healthcare system is awful. The last time I had to go to the hospital because I got injured at work I had to wait for 12 hours for a bandage and a faked smile from the nurse "Now you can go home!".... Damn! Yes it is free and now I got a good job with good insurances but something must be done to improve our healthcare system.

Sorry for my english I'm a french-canadian and it is the first time I attempt to write only in english on a forum.

The only thing I noticed that It is a hassle for a Canadian to get a Xbox 360 repaired. Price on the games is O.K. I only buy 30% of my games NEW. The rest from EB games or another used games store. It only matters on "must have" releases such as Gears of War 2 or something similar.

Why do we pay 10$ more for games when the currency is just about at par with the USA? 70$(the ammount games cost up north) is 69.4 american dollars... WTF this is stupid I don't wanna pay for games just because I live in Canada and they think they can make us think the currency is what it was in 2000.Lawnboi

Games are 59.99 in Toronto, where are you at?

See, same prices as the USA :?

lol! I love that song! oh and why dont you go on strike canadian? Do you 'want mo money'? I can give you a check for 5,000,000 theoretical dollars if you want....... "Canada on strike" is another hillarious Southpark episode making fun of Canadians.........

but yeah, honestly, everything in canada costs more because they are getting things shipped FROM the US. and before that things are shipped FROM europe, japan, etc. I lived in alaska growing up and we had to pay more for everything, just like canada. you just get used to it. the British pay even more than canada for most everything....but they live on an island, so it's no surprise to anyone. LOL

I like how this turned from a videogame forum to one complaining about nations healthcare systems.

However on another point, France has the best healthcare as it is also free, and in most circumstances doctors get sent directly to your home.

Lol, truth. What's going on guys? Keep it on topic. At least you're not a Jewish person in WWII.

Attacking religion? This point was just bugging me a little that's all.

Well I just said that there is nothing like the Antichrist and that it is foolish to pretend otherwise. Especially to call someone the Antichrist because you don't like him and / or would'nt vote for him. You can believe in what you want and that does'nt bother me at all, but don't come up with such opinion about someone.

I just bought Ninja Gaiden II for 60 bucks! Hurray!

And yet people in Toronto could end up waiting a few months to go see a doctor , for something that they should be seen right away for . I will certainly take the u.s. system over their extremely flawed health care .

Oh and i would certainly rather have a top notch doctor here look at me , over the marginal doctors they have there .

Myth. Myth, myth, myth, myth. This is one of those lies we Americans tell each other so that we can pretend that our country is superior in every possible way. Long gone are the days of American supremacy in everything but military strength -- get over it.

BTW, Canadian healthcare isn't free, we pay for it in our taxes.

Exactly. BTW, this American thinks that Canada rocks. :-) I was born in the upper penninsula of Michegan and grew up in Potsdam, NY, about 30 minutes from the border. I always counted myself unfortunate not to have been born and raised a little bit more north. :-)

You guys the other side of the pond are a whiny bunch of gits arn't you? Always complaining about the prices of games when they are really dirt cheap compared to England. I'd gladly pay $60 for a brand new game. Heck, you lot even complain that games arn't as low as $40 sometimes, what the hell, thats like 20 quid. If i got my new games for that price my collection would be huge.

One thing though, i know jack about the economy in America and Canada so please flame me if need be.

We're the same as Americans as far as I know, and just wait 3 weeks and get it used, or trade in some old games you don't play. (Resisting temptation to talk about USA vs Canada healthcare battle! Must resist...must stay on topic!)

Yeah except the taxes our games are now the same price as US... it's the store that screws you in ebgames their prices are always like US prices. And our healthcare system is sure better than paying like the americans, but damn it sucks to wait 8 to 12 hours to see a doctor when you break your wrist... at least in quebec. And RushMetallica, I see you like Prog metal, good stuff...

$70? Damn, that sucks man. Excuse me while I go buy GTA4 for NZ$120 (equiv of US$100), or perhaps I'll jump over to Aussie and pay equivalent of over US$110. Oh, and we don't get free healthcare ;)

I ya and free health care!!!

KOTOR1230

That made no sense whatsoever. And to the TC, games are 60 bucks in Canada just like USA. Our health care system may be free, but there is huge family doctor shortage. Just putting that out there.

For starters their healthcare is not free. Secondly, they should not be charged 10$ more for games. I suggest Ebay among other methods.ModernTimes

Dude, I live in Canada. Where in the hell do you buy your games?!? I pay no more than $50.00 for new games. You're getting horribly ripped off.

And BTW, our healthcare isn't flawed. Its all these immigrants that are coming to our country and filling up our waiting rooms. That's why it takes so damn long for a doctor in Toronto. The more you get out of the bigger cities and come to a smaller city or town, its easy to get a doctor whenever.

Wait, wait, wait....Canada has immigrants? Seriously?

Sorry...it was just to good to pass up. :)

Yeah, way too damn many. I know it sounds terrible, but I think the government should close it's doors and start shipping 'em back to wherever they came from... :P

Nearly every single person in Canada and the United States is an immigrant if you think about it. So where are you going to run off and ship off all those people to?

This is a video game forum, not a bigotry forum.

My family medical per month is $110 and extended dental is $60 per month. How do you consider that to be free?

In fact, to all the people here whining and complaining claiming that Canadian Health Care is free, how much do you guys pay per month in the states that you consider $170 per month is equivalent to free.

How much is your medical bill per month?

Yeah, way too damn many. I know it sounds terrible, but I think the government should close it's doors and start shipping 'em back to wherever they came from... :P

Nearly every single person in Canada and the United States is an immigrant if you think about it. So where are you going to run off and ship off all those people to?

This is a video game forum, not a bigotry forum.

No, nearly everbody's ancestors were immigrants. Most people here were born here and so never immigrated. And even the native americans immigrated.

but still, your right this isn't a place for bigotry.

Hurray!

Vinland_Fighter

First of all it was a joke, and I figured that most people would be able to detect that. And I think it's foolish for you to believe that there will not be an AntiChrist.
