Could depend on how fast your internet connection runs.

I'd say it's your connection because it certainly isn't the population and you don't need the map packs.

lol. Of course your connection is going to be perfect in your own private match. You would be the host and the only player in the game.

Good point. But i am able to play every other game I own online free of troubles and without lag. So im 99% positive it is not my connection.

when searching for matches in mw2 there was a thing at the top that says so many matches found at x ping amount and it would keep increasing. If it keeps increasing and can't find a game then it is your connection. sometimes it just takes a while to get in a lobby. You could try joining someone's session in progress then see if you are lagging.

Sorry to hear that... and judging by the responses in this thread, I am not 100% certain, but, personally, I believe that the only thing it can be is your connection. But, as you said, every other game works fine. Make sure nobody is using your Internet connection (if it is wireless). Somebody may be downloading something, somewhere and slowing your Internet down.

Maybe your onnection is fine, but your NAT setting is strict, which severely limits the number of games you can join. You can easily find online tutorials on how to open your NAT and enable UPnP settings
