I am strongly thinking about getting a xbox 360 (mainly cause of Halo 3.) Anyways, I have a few questions. First and most obivious from the title, should I get the premium or core? Is the only difference the 20GB hard Drive? And is that hard drive that important? I am in college so I have a slightly restricted budged ^_^. Second question is do I really need to buy it from a store for the warrenty or is it safe to buy it off eBay or other online websites, will I still have the warrenty from buying it on eBay? From the few threads I read it seems that people go through these things like hotcakes (srry, had to sayit.) In all seriousness though, many people complainabout having to send theirs off for a month to get it repaired! It has me scarred :( Well, thx for any answers,

The core basically gives you nothing.Getting the premium will actually end up costing you less in the end.

Premium - hands down. The new Premiums have HDMI as well and you will want a hard drive even if you don't think you will right now.

Get the Premium. It's an awesome value because of all the accessories that come with it. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Premium... I bought core and upgraded really fast after the memory card filled in like 2 days... also no backwards compatability withought the drive... not a big deal but something to think about... If you get xbox live you will need the drive for downloads and to store your gamercard etc....

Alright, thank you very much for the answer to core or premium. Now for my second question, do they fail quite a bit? If I get it off eBay will I be able to send it back if it fails or should I even worry about it?

Definitely look at the Premium or Elite. And like anything else it's hard to say if it's fail or not. There are millions of consoles with no issues and there are many that have issues. If you do buy it off of Ebay, then you'll have to see if you can return it to the seller for a different unit if yours fails. If the seller is an individual with a single unit, then you'd have no choice but to send it to MS to get it replaced.

So it might make sense to buy it from a regular retailer with a good return policy..just in case..

I'm expecting to arrive soon, basically the second time i bought the core because i already had the hard drive, the hdtv cables and the wireless control. Hope thist ime my xbox 360 will last longer thatn the previous one. My first one was one of the first made on. But when it broke, guess what, i open it and voided my warranty.

premium is the best choice for most people...but what if six months down the line you get xbox live (for arguments sake) and you want to download demos and shows and other content...what of you need a bigger HDD. thats why i went for the elite

PREMIUM by far, core is the biggest rip off!!!! I bought one at launch, cause that is all I could get my greasy hands on. But I ended up paying way more to have the sme stuff as the premium, which you need, hard drive, componnent cables. headset, wireless controller, etc. Plus the core has a white dvd tray, so any faceplates you put on look ugly. the premium has the chrome. But now I have an elite mainly because it is black and matches all my other electronics. TV, home theater. etc. I never really liked the white at all.

Ok, got it about the premium, lol. I have been looking on eBay for a premium system, really not wanting to spend over $300 if at all possible. Anyways, most people online have a warrenty and worst comes to worst I can send it back to microsoft. I would like to know how referbised systems work and what that word even means? Almost all of them say "referbised from Microsoft." Does that mean it was once broken and now they have it repaired?

DO NOT BUY THE CORE! It is unplayable out of the box as you need some type of memory device to make a profile (cheapest being the 64MB memory card for $40). However, that $60 that you are saving by buying the core will eventually be spent on accessories like an xbox live headset (which comes with the premium). So in the long run you are saving maybe $30, if that, and you are getting much less. The harddrive is great to have so you can download all the free demos from the marketplace (which are over 500MB and wont fit on the memory card).

So the moral of this story, and I'll make my point through repetition, DO NOT BUY THE CORE!
