I Got Dragon Age: Origins not to long ago, and am wondering about the expansion (Awakening). It's really pricy, but anyone whose bought/played it could give me some insight it'd be a huge help. I'm loving Dragon Age so far, and really don't want to spend that much extra money to be disappointed by an expansion since the original is really bad ass.

I hear it's more of "questing" in DA Awakening. So you're getting more of the same product. Nothing has changed from the first, in terms of gameplay, presentation, etc. It's an expansion, with some added story with a new recruit as you've seen in previews. No improved graphics. To sum it all up, "more of the same." Which is a good thing.

Pretty much more of the same with new items, new skills, new abilities, new characters, and new class specializations. It's not that lengthy, but if you do pretty much all of the side quests it will take around 20 hours.

Some minor spoilers (maybe) follow

I was a little disappointed that there were no romance options, and I was really hoping that the characters would be a little more fleshed out. I played as a human noble, and I was really hoping there'd bea deeper storybetween me and Nathanial Howe, but it basically boiled down to forgiving him or executing him. Also, I wished that the side quests given by the companions would have been better. It also seemed strange to me that Oghren was the only character to return, seeing as he was the most annoying. I would have loved to have had Sten or Shale come back instead. And why isn't there anyone to make my pantaloons into giant golem armor and a rocket launcher!?!?

All in all, a pretty good expansion. Cool new items, weapons and armor, some really cool new enemies, and some interesting locales. Not sure if it's worth $40 though.
