well its not exactly a circle. it looks like a small scar basically, but it obviously won't get cleaned with a cloth.

I got same problem with my Gears 2, I'm waiting to see if Microsoft is going to add it to their list of replaceable games, seeing as Gears 1 is on there.

Can you tell us how far from the center it is? And is it light, barely visible, or is it obvious. Most importantly (probably should have asked this first...) does the game work as it is supposed to???

The reason I ask is that all 360 games have a VERY light circle about 3/4ths of an inch from the center, this is normal as all my games have it right out of the box.

Where did you buy it? You got a defective product, and you're entitled to a replacement. Return it.

yeah, thats a scratch......At this point you might as well try to fix it with what people recommend. BUT, make sure that your 360 is flat when playing from now on and dont change it while its playing something. 360s that stand vertically are less stable, causing the disk to shake more as it spins and scratching the game. That being said....did you buy the game and find the scratch, or did it scratch after playing it? If it scratched after play, you might want to, as I said, place your 360 so its flat (if it isnt already) and try to contact microsoft for a replacement or fix for your 360.

I had it placed vertically first then i switched it to make it flat. Thank you. I think i might go to gamestop and get it resurfaced tommorow.

I know this is going to sound very strange, but it does work. My Rock Band 2 disk got scratches on it and I was able to use tooth paste and rub it in a circler motion all over the disk. After doing this for a while, I cleaned the disk off really good, let it dry and the disk work perfectly. I went ahead and installed the disk on my H/D so I will not run into the issue again. My disk displayed the same problem, my wife would hit continue and it would give a could not read error. Here is a howto and a video on the process:
