Does anyone know if you will be able to transfer the contents of your old hard drive to the 360 slim, I have seen the kit that came with the elite but the 360 has a very different hard drive. The reason i ask is because I need to get a new 360 and I also need some more save space so the larger hard drive would be great to have so if anyone has heard anything let me know

I believe I remember hearing about a data transfer kit for the new 360. Pretty sure they talk about it in this video: http://www.giantbomb.com/e3-2010-undercover-new-xbox-unboxing/17-2670/

you'd have to buy a transfer kit.

considering it's $20, it would be VERY wise to buy a 8 Gigabyte flashdrive for the same price instead. you can transfer files with one in case you didn't know.

I'd guess you have a 20 or 60 Gb HDD currently, so you'd make about 2-5 swaps.

this way, you have yourself a useful piece of equipment, whether you use it with your 360 or your PC/Laptop.

I just used a flash drive.. but I didn't have that much on mine, just some game saves and my profile.. For some, it may be more of a headache.

I don't know what this 360 Slim is, but to transfer data from the discontinued 360 to the new 360 model you need a transfer kit or USB thumb drive.

I was thinking about this, like if I were to put my saves on a flash drive and trade my 360 in for a new on, where would I put the saves (what area) on the HDD of the new one?

It should know what is on the flash drive and pretty much tell you yes or no on the transfer then do the rest for you.

Its simple I did it last night. Just get the data transfer kit then u plug in the usb from the transfer kit to the back of the slim(one of the 3 usb ports in the back) and plug in the old hard drive to the transfer kit plug-in thingy and pop in the disc that comes with the kit and then it prompts u what u wana do. If u want to transfer data from the slim to the HD u could do that but in our case u transfer the data from the HD to the slim. Its very use friendly and worked like a charm and I got all my old date onto the slim with no problems. If this is holding u back from doing the swap don't let it its a piece of cake.

you never got a kit with the elite, you had to phone ms and proove you were moving from a pro/premium to a elite and they would send it, i think they wont charge you if you own a a xbox that comes with a hard drive thats registered to you and you buy a slim xbox.

I heard that Microsoft will be including a transfer cable with the new 360, but judging by the unboxing videos I have seen, I have not seen any type of transfer cable.

I used an old jump drive and backed up my saved games. For arcade games, I'll just redownload the ones that I really want to play again. It was nice being able to use a USB drive, it saved my $20 on the transfer kit
