Devil May Cry 4 Demo- What do you think?

i haven't played ANY of the DMC games, but i'm tempted to rent 1-3 for my ps2, then rent 4. But I have a question for you guys:

would the first 3 on my old ps2 just be anoying to play now that i have a 360? or is it worth it to understand the story before 4 comes out?

p.s. hey guys, from my experiences I'd say dont buy or not buy a game based off of a demo. sometimes a demo is great, but the full finished game is really shallow. A prime example is "heavenly sword" for the ps3. Usually a rental is a much better gauge of a game's replay value. after 5 days of a full game, you'll know if it's worth buying. 10 days+ on a partial game demo is not even close (most the time).

This demo was awesome.... I beat it, and I'm going to beat it again in a few minutes. I like it... a lot. I don't know what you guys are talking about, but this is coming from a hardcore DMC fan; this game will be able to get tons of new fans as well. I don't know what you guys on page 1 are blabbing about, but I have yet to share your views.

EDIT: I just read how wittbolds said DMC2 was good, and saying this was worse. Thanks, but your taste doesn't match up with most of the DMC fans. Seriously. >_>

Why because they didnt agree with you? i liked all previous DMC and i dont really like this one its very easy and the bosses are stupid(well the one you get to fight) even on easy DMC3 put up some challenge i only got hurt ounce and it was gaints the boss with his surprise explosion attack.

Despite this and my previous post im going to get the game.......so all you DMC fanboys dont hurt me

The worst thing that can be said is that it sticks to the formula of the previous DMC games, but that's all I really want out of it. I had a lot of fun with the demo, though I wish there were more enemies on screen, like towards the end of the mission. Using the Devil Bringer feels like using Link's Hookshot. I really like how you can launch enemies away and snare them back in for more combos.

The controls feel pretty good. I would have preferred the RT for the lock on button, but that can probably be changed in the full-version. I think that fans will be pleased with this game if they're looking for more over-the-top action that the previous games have brought.

Well see, the normal mode on DMC 3 was the hard mode on the japanese version, but when DMC 3 speical addition game out (the one where you can be vergil), they toned the normal difficulty back to normal.

Thats why alot of ppl complained in the beginning about the difficulty when it came out.

why not rent the game first? it's only $5 or so, not that much, I'm pretty sure you can afford that :)

this game is really promising i guess some of my xbox bros. dont know when a game is on easy but anyway the graphics are amazing, the action is still there and, the devil bringer works better than i thought it would, overall this is really gonna be a great so we should support it instead of another crappy adventure game like assassins creed CMW16

i agree except the assassins creed part, assassins creed is like a blue print for the second one, which should be amazing

Do you really think Capcom would make the difficulty for this demo the same as the previous games? It is easier because they want these Xbox owners who have never played a DMC to play it and have fun and then go buy and then find out that the normal difficulty is hard as balls compared most games these days with Ninja Gaiden being an exception.

the demo was great except for the first mission exterminator it had 10 minutes to it and it just leads you to the next one i just hope there isnt a one hit kill mode like in dmc3.

I haven't played DMC4's demo yet (DLed while I was at work), but I agree that Turning Point and Turok's demo (got that one on PS3, since it didn't make it to the States on 360) were both pretty awful and I won't be buying them.

DMC fans know Capcom has likely learned from what made 3 so great to never repeat the atrocity that was DMC2. Its a demo, you get no powers, the default weapons, and the difficulty is on easy. And theres definitely going to be a mix of enemies because even 2 had more than just one type in an area.

I played this years ago on the PS2 and to me it appears nothing has changed. It may have better graphics but why the same BS controls and poor camera angels. Not impressed!!!

the game is absolutely AMAZING...everything a DMC game should be, nero is tight as hell and can't wait to play as dante...TC and everyone else on here is probably a first time DMC player, yea i wouldn't expect u guys to like it...u have to play all of them i love the game and nothing was wrong with it...except i woulda liked more dialog from nero, used to dante talking all the time, cause dante is a talker...but badass talker the way things seem...this may be even greater than DMC1 & 3 combined 10/10 for the demo, great taste of what's to comefiercedeity901

well i loved it and ive never owned a devil may cry game before normally i hate beat em ups and hack and slash games but for some reason i just LOVED this one i will be buying on 2/8 itll be a GREAT birthday present and something different from all the shooters i own

This game sucks I can't even see Nero when I'm shooting the gun I just see the tip of the gun and the unentertaining response of the enemy. The sword combat is just boring. I have to wait until Ninja Gaiden II for a good game of the relatively same genre.Mutatedbloodelf

For me Devil May Cry is infinitely better than Ninja Gaiden. I like games to have some difficulty but games where the easiest difficulty is harder than most games hardest difficulty thats a problem. And when a game is so difficult that it feels like a chore just to survive thats a big problem. Combat just flows better in DMC than Ninja Gaiden to me. Aside from difficulty there isn't much else different in gameplay in the two, you got a sword and you fight some sort of monster.

But it wasn't really the game's difficulty that put me off from Ninja Gaiden, it is everything else. When it comes to games these days I believe that art direction and story telling are just as important or more important than gameplay. And really when it comes to Team Ninja I just hate their art style sure it, something about the way they make their games look I just don't like it is sort of hard to describe. But the biggest flaw of Ninja Gaiden is plot. Ninja Gaiden had one of the dumbest plots ever. And the way Team Ninja feels the need to have barely any story and spread it out through notes you collect throughout the game and 10 second cutscenes were everything happens too fast doesn't help much at all.

Too true. Demos are just too watered down to be an accurate representation of a game.
