[QUOTE="IAmDazzle"]Regardless of all the different moves, it is still one button. I looked at some of the different Red Queen combos to buy, and they were all variations of Y button mashing. Half the time I couldn't tell one apart from the other.
And the game is just like all the others. The biggest differences are with the characters. You are Nero not Dante, so things change a bit. The game is gorgeous, and the dialogue, while cheesy sometimes, fits incredibly well and is well done, and the action is really flashy and well choreographed. The game is indeed fun, and I love the LE casing and such, but the game doesn't do much to change the formula. Face it, you are a DMC fanboy, and you are biased. You are trying to find random stuff to make it look new and improved because you want to defend it because you like it. There isn't anything wrong with that, but it doesn't mean a whole mass of people are dead wrong.

Ninja Gaiden isn't far removed from DMC's 1 button combo mashing scenario either. Ninja Gaiden only uses 2 and X is the main button with Y only only being used for a few select moves. With DMC4 and the devil bringer its the same situation now.
I havent played DMC4 yet, so i'm not going to say that it lacks more depth than what Ninja gaiden had, however, ninja gaiden had a few more attack buttons and variations than you give credit for. "X" is used as a weaker attack and "Y" is the stronger attack (which also is used to throw enemies into the air for air-combos) and don't forget the "B" button that's used for shurikens(which is probably equivelant to Nero or dante's pistols) This may sound shallow now, however, when you put the amount of weapons which ninja gaiden has into the picture (each with their own combo sets, different speeds and various strengths) then it's far from being repetitive. Don't forget about the bow and arrows and also the special attacks that are used with ninpo...
I'm not responding to your post in an attempt to flame you, I'm just informing those who haven't played Ninja Gaiden yet.

Now as for repetitive gameplay, I kind of have your back. You can play through just mashing Y, but I think the fun comes in meshing the Blue Rose, Red Queen, and Demon Arm (refresh my memory to the proper name because I forgot after having played it twenty minutes ago). DMC has a tendency to be able to be treated as a button masher, but can be played more complexly.

This is actually the only DMC game i own, i have never played 1 or 2, and have only played 3 till mission 9 or 10... i hardly think i can be called a "fanboy". And yes, i am trying to defend it, because x-play's review WAS dead wrong. They explained pretty much only the bad in it, and disregarded some of its better points (like the ones i posted earlier). and when you compare X-plays score of 3/5 (6.0/10), when everybody else gave it no lower than an 8, and most of the time it scored around a 9. how is it that they gave it such a bad review? thats the point i am trying to make.
The game looks hot. I might buy it this weekend.cjgangstayea im thinking that too and tc to answer ur thread i think ppl were expecting a complete overhaul to the series and its not but i think the demo was awesome and regardless im prolly gettin it
I love DMC4!!! I don't think it's underrated though. But I dont think it's overrated as well. It's just at that right point.
Anyways, it's that kind of game that will keep my busy till NG2 and GOW3.
Ohh, and the Collector's Edition is sooo worth it.
I want to get DMC4 bad, I also dont have assassins creed yet, just curious to anyone who has both, would it be a waste of money to buy both, are they both simular games just different stories and stuff??uschris0304
dont buy both get DMC and if u decide u want AC get it but personally i dont like it
please ninja gaiden 2 is gonna be delayed just like ALL great games are. Plus DMC is an awesome awesome series, loved them since the 1st one came out. And DMC4 is THE BEST in the series imo. Love the game!!! 10/10 for me. I'll be getting NG2 also, that game is going to own along with DMC4. NG and DMC play differently.
NG, more defensive gameplay.
DMC way more offensive gameplay.

Thing is though I did play Ninja Gaiden, I played through the original 2 or 3 times and wasn't too impressed. I found the gameplay pretty much the same as DMC but felt DMC was just faster paced and flowed better. I've been thinking of tracking down Black or getting Sigma when I get a PS3 to give it another shot as I traded it in about a year ago.
