[QUOTE="5FingersOfDeath"]If MS wants to use BR, then I think Sony would be wise to let them.soroush7
Why would it be wise? The Blu-Ray is outselling HD by a 2:1 ratio. Microsoft will eventually have to give up on the hopes of HD and start making 360's with Blu-Ray.
isn't that what I said?
UT3 is not officially being stripped down and if it does, it will be a few maps. They'll find a way to put it on the disk.
I am not sure what Microsoft would have to do to use a Blu-Ray player, but they have said they could make an add-on for it.
M$ will soon have to release yet another console with Blu-Ray built in for games. And they will have to pay the Blu-Ray group that developed Blu-Ray and Sony happens to own a big share of that group. So all in all M$ will be paying Sony to a degree.jimm895
thats why i dont think they will do it even if blu ray whens they would have to pay sony a large amount of money to be able to use it in their system. not only would they be helping their enemy but it no doubt drive up the price of their next system higher then it has to be if they were smart they would just use HD dvd for the next xbox its still a ton of space. I really doubt the average game will be breaking 30 gigs anytime soon even next gen.

I think using BR is a smart business decision, obviously if HD-DVD dies. It's not like they'll have a choice, nothing to do with helping their enemy, don't count out the fact that an XBOX with BR can have more success then a PS with it.

Still, movies wont work then...
This is not a flame thread, and this does not belong in System Wars. This is a discussion concerning a future Microsoft plan. It's pretty much common knowledge that HD-DVD has lost the high-def format war. There are also some games that are going to be a little more stripped down than the PS3 version due to the smaller capacity, such as UT3. So what about Microsoft adopting Blu-Ray for the next gen? The games need more space, and Blu-Ray provides it. So why not?pyrobrand
It is either Microsoft pays Sony for using thier disc or they come out with something else which I think would be stupid. I also heard that the XBOX 360 might come out with an external Blu-Ray player and if so will be more then the $199.99 ExternalHD DVD Drive. I would say it's safe to say yes they did they are the creators as well as Royal Philips Electronics. Many people said it was useless but honestly people are going to want more one day.

With the PlayStation 3's Special Edition Stranglehold will have a movie plus the game inside the very same disc. Stuff like that is pretty cool and Resistence: Fall of Man took up 20GB on the disc. The Sepcial Editions can be well worth your wild with on that storage capacity.
Because hd-dvd has it and they have an external hd-dvd player just in case. I think that if for some reason the dvd does run out of space (I actually think it is a good thing forcing developers to make clean code that runs silky smooth with no problems), I bet microsoft would just lower the price of the hd-dvd player.SimCityRush
That wouldn't be a smart move by Microsoft so with the External HD DVD Player at $199.99 pretty mucht the console is the same price as the PlayStation 3. I also think they made a supid move by making the XBOX 360 with HDMI because that was the whole point of the Elite. Now the Elite is still higher and for what reason because it's black.

I was quite sure than Sony and was it Samsung were together in the whole Blu-Ray thing (don't know exactly who owns it bought it tought it was kind of both) which means that say Microsoft got Blu-Ray then they would firstly have to pay Sony and Samsung (i really could be mistaken), but then Sony and Samsung would also make money for each disc sold.
Sony would make even more money by letting Microsoft use it (i still could be very well mistaken).
Idk about you guys but many games are already reaching the MAX 8GB on the disk. Microsft should have had every 360 with a HD player already built in.zaku101
Yeah but then the 360 would be delayed a year. It was a marketing decision by MS to get the 360 out in 2005.

And make it mandatory? MY GOD

They are dumbing the game down agood deal for the 360. The PS3s processor is the only reason why, though. It's just so much more powerful than the 360s.
Otherwise it will be the same game.
And yes I think MS will probably have to use to blu-ray next gen.

Microsoft has already stated that they're going to stick with the HD-DVD format. ...They're got down all rumours of them considering to switch to Blu-Ray. Overall, we won't have a definite winner between HD-DVD and Bluray for at *least* another year. Sure Bluray is winning right now, but not very long ago HD-DVD was winning as well. If Blu-ray does in fact win, Microsoft will no doubt use it in their next console. SuperBeast
people buy more xbox360's because of the low price in the core system.... and if u buy it with a hd-dvd it costs almost like a ps3... if not just like one... so people if i have to choose between xbox360 with hd-dvd and a ps3 60gb... i will choose a ps3... because the ps3 has more potential than the xbox360..... blu-ray wins vs. hd-dvd... and plus i dont think that Microsoft will adopt a blu-ray because by doing that it will show that sony has won the "system war"

I dont think sony would have any problem with Microsoft using their Blu-Ray seeing as Song wil just make lots more money from it! Also DVD's are currently fine for games. You only need all that free room if producers dont want to compress the audio.
