I'll start off by saying that I didn't enjoy any Tom Clancy game this gen besides Double Agent. But, about an hour ago, I decided to try GRAW 2 on Extreme Risk difficulty, and I'm loving it. I guess the added difficulty added an extra level of tension and intensity, and I'm in love with the game now.

If I tried to go back and play the Vegas games on the highest difficulty, would the difficulty scale up enough for that extra level of tension like GRAW 2 did?

In my opinion it would. Rainbow Six is much tougher than GRAW and playing on Realistic really amps the game up! You can't mess up at all and it makes for a great time!

That sounds perfect for me. I love when games are completely unforgiving and one screw up can completely destroy you.

I'm definitely getting the Vegas games back from my cousin. I know this probably belongs in the Games Recommendation Thread, but I'll ask anyways. Are there any other really difficulty games, preferable non run-n-gun shooters.

Gears of War 2 Horde on insane. It's tough to get past the first three waves, and there ar e a total of 50.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is, without a doubt, worth it. Great multiplayer, and the terrorist hunts are very fun, specially when done with friends. We laugh through the whole 10 minutes we put to eliminate all terrorists. And hard.

I agree. Even though Vegas 2 has a million flaws, it's so much fun to play with friends.

Have fun with the terrorists with shotguns. This game is very hard because even opening a door can mean certain doom.

I try to play games on hardest always, and I can tell you that you'll enjoy RS:V (specially the first one) on realistic, also if you haven't played cod4 play it on veteran...

DO NOT PLAY cod3 on veteran, it's a waste of time and it's just TOO DIFFICULT, believe me

I've played it through so many times on Realistic that I basically know where every enemy spawns. That may be why I find it so easy.

T-Hunt was easy after a while. I beat each one on realistic.

I've played it through on Realistic at least 35-40 times (you can tell I love the game right?).

I've got everything down like spawns as well as the weapons (shield, shotgun, etc.) the enemies will have. My best advice for a class in the campaign:

FAMAS with an ACOG

SR-25

MK.23 with the laser sight

Incendiary and Frag grenades

& an ass load of armor. 2 mobility and 8 protection is perfect. You will be a walking tank while retaining some mobility.

Since people are giving out advice on weapons, here goes my tips:

- Don't use the scopes for any weapons other than the sniper rifles. High capacity mags are your friend for any weapon.

- Power over tricks. C4's and Grenades/Incendiaries tend to come more in hand, specially since you have a crew with 10 smoke bombs and flash bombs that you can abuse of. In multiplayer, the three offensive are even more important.

- See what you're better at. Do you have an iron-hard aim, thus justifying the use of more precise weapons, such as sniper rifles and rifles, or are you the gun's-blazing (which is quite difficult to be in this game) style, which fits more with shotguns and sub-machine guns/light machine guns.

As a reference, here's what I carry in my pack - though, be warned, much of the weapons you choose should be chosen depending on the situation. A sniper rifle in a map like Villa is very hard to manage, but you'll be scoring a ridiculous ammount of kills at a map like Oil Refinery or even Import/Export):

- Famas + High Capacity Mag. (or G3KA4, MP5N, Aug Para, a few other rifles or more precise sub-machine guns)

- SR-25 SD* + 6x Scope.

- Raging Bull.

- C4.

- Frag Grenades or Incendiaries.

*This overtakes other sniper rifles because you don't have to click another bullet after each shot, and it has a silencer. If you can more or less narrow down the middle of your screen, you can do the incredibly annoying blind-shot kills with it. That means you can kill oponents at the other side of the map without popping your face and aiming (Terrorist Hunts and Story Mode make this easy by having a small cross-hair even when you're stuck to the wall, which is equivalent to where you'd shoot. It's 100% precise, so if you get a double-aim (you HAVE to be double-aiming to have a chance at scoring a hit with this blind fire) correctly, nothing will make you miss).

I beg to differ the fun pack for the first Rainbow Six Vegas is SCAR H with 6x or ACOG sight for sniping purpose, the MG-36 for longass shootouts, and the 92FS is THE gun, if you're having too much trouble play cheap and use a riot shield it lowers the difficulty to easy :P

Just don't make the BAD mistake of using a riot shield in a multiplayer session incorrectly. Riot shields make their users VERY suscetible to grenades and headshots.
