I usually find myself agreeing with GS and IGN reviews whether I read them before or after I play the games. So when in doubt as to which game to choose, I rely in part on reviews.

Reviews definitely do not have a big part in my purchases, whether it be movies, cds, or video games. If a game looks good to me, I'll buy it.

I don't really take Gamespot into account, but I do pay attention to ign. But not very much, if anything a bad review makes something a rental, and then a possible purchase if I like it, or it makes me wait till its cheap or used. Which doesn't take that long if it reviews poorly.

I take reviews into consideration, but even after seeing the review I still do research to make sure it's a game I would enjoy. Some games even if they have good ratings aren't going to be enjoyed by everyone. I won't lie though... I don't really consider buying games that have a rating below 7.5.

Absolutely, yes. But that is not the only factor. For instance, Crackdown 2, i did not buy it because of the poor review scores. I was not all that interested to begin with, but if it had received over a 8 for a score, i might have checked it out. But other games like Halo Wars got a very low score from GS, and i still bought it and enjoyed it because i was interested in the game. But yeah, if i see a score lower than 8, i put on the breaks and investigate the game very carefully before i buy it.

Game reviews can have some clout in my purchases. What's annoying, however, is finding two conflicting reviews of a game; for instance, one site gives the game a 5.0 and another site gives it an 8.0.

Reviews don't make my decision, but they help me. After all, how bad would we all feel if we all walked into a store and bought Darkest of Days without reading ANY reviews?

I only use reviews to see what technical issues the game has and then gameplay. I could care less about what the reviewer thinks of the game. I have plenty of games that are around a 5.

Sometimes I'll read them just to see what other people are saying, but I usually just buy the game without reading any reviews.

If a game gets a low average review score, I will not waste my money on it. If I'm interested in a game that I'm not entirely sure about I'll check out some reviews. If GS gives it something like a 7 or 7.5 then I'll read the full text of the review to see what points were taken off for. I usually always read the review for games that get higher scores too, just to make sure. I also try to read a few different ones so I can see different people's perespectives. If I'm still on the fence, I'll ask around on the forums here to see what the average joe thinks about it. So yes, I use reviews as a factor in my purchasing decisions, but it's just part of a much larger process.

The games that I buy new are usually the ones that the general consensus (press reviewers and gamer reviewers alike) says it will be great

I use the reviews as a guide... I want to know something about the game before i blow money on it. I often read the peer reviews along with the review from the site.

Reviews definitely play a big part of my purchase choices, currently a student so don't have a huge amount of disposable income, so its unlikely i'll buy a game 1st day anyway, and to get something fairly new its going to have to have at least a good review on ign and some decent player reviews really.

Well, to be honest, I watch some gameplay first, before I buy something, but regarding the reviews, I don't give a crap.

I always read reviews before I think about buying a game. If the game seems to have a good review then I'll check out some gameplay footage and decide from there.

I normally take the reviews into account for simple research into the mechanics and gameplay, then i look at player reviews and forums to see if its an enjoyable game...

It depends really if the game gets a Metacriti of 60 or below chances are I won' t buy itwithout renting it if it' s between 60 and say, 71 then I may consider buying it at a lower price. 72 and up usually means I' ll buy it at full price or at the price of one price drop.

Metacritic scores are actually really skewed (3 out of 5 stars isn't a bad score, but they calculate it as 60%, which is pretty horrible), so I look at the individual reviews that make up a score, and even then, I only look at reviewers that are established, so I know it's not some no-name reviewer who might have some financial incentive to slant his review.

Basically, if a game scores above 75%, I look to see if it's something I'd want to try out. If it gets 90% or higher, I always at least rent it. I've got Gamefly, too, so it makes it easier to try out different games. I only really buy games anymore if they've got multiplayer that I know I'll want to play over and over or the solo-mode has so much content it will take me more than 25 hours to beat.

generally I look and read around 2-3 reviews on a game but If I really want a certain game I usually still buy it regardless, Having said that if a wanted gameand it averages around a 5 then I think a bit more about the purchase andusually wait for a price drop.

Nope, reviews only tell me if the game has bugs or glitches to be concerned about. I know what games I want to play, it doesn't matter what critics "think" for me.

Pretty much, yea. Not even just whether they say its good or not, but they provide a lot of information of what the game is like so we can make our own opinion of whether it'll be a game we'd like.

Honestly, I think people who dont use reviews are being a bit hard-headed, and possibly just saying it cuz they think its 'cool' to tell people you make your *own* opinions, as if it makes you sound grown up or something.

They're a nice resource to have to make an informed decision about what to spend my hard-earned money on. Why the hell wouldn't you use them?

Or maybe we know what we like? 100 Xbox 360 games and no regrets. I have enjoyed plenty of "bad" games. Too Human, Clive Barker's Jericho, The Godfather 2, The Last Remnant, Viking Battle for Asgard, and etc. If I listened to reviews I would have missed out on well over 30 of my games that I have enjoyed. It isn't hard to read through a review for technical issues and watch some gameplay footage to see if a game looks appealing to you. I don't care if the reviewer gave it a 5 if it looks good to me and isn't plagued with glitches I will definitely buy it. Maybe not for $60 but down the road. Although I did buy Too Human for $50 and I have no regrets.

Well reading reviews could also tell you how long you'll have to wait to find a game in the bargain bin. I'll spend $60 on a game I really want on release day if I know it'll take over a year just to drop to $40. However, there's plenty of games out there that flop in reviews and drop to $20 in a 6 months.

I get the basic information on here without needing to read a review and I normally look for deals on CAG before I buy a game. I'm not really interested in waiting a few months for a price drop if it seems like a really fun game that I want to play right away but if it's something that doesn't interest me a lot I just wait. If it's an alright game I normally wait until it is around $20-30 or depending on how much I want to play it.
