Do I get COD4 or Mass Effect first?

The last three games i've got are bioshock, halo 3 and the orange box. They're all great but that's a lot of FPSing. Mass Effect would be a nice change of pace, but COD looks siiick. Its killing me; I cannot make up my mind. How bad is the combat in Mass Effect, compared with a game like GoW or Halo that's centered around the combat?

The combat is kind of like Gears of War, except more versatile and you can be a support character.

Mass Effect is looking to be one of my all time favourite games.

In your case I would say go with Mass Effect since you have enough for FPS games to last you a little while. Don't go intoMass Effectexpecting a shoot em up game like Gears. It goes a lot deeper than that and the combat isn't the same. It has a more tactical edge to it with spell powers. Don't miss out on COD 4, that would be a mistake. I just think that if you can only get one of those games right now pick up Mass Effect since you have a lot of good FPS's at the moment. In my mind, there's no denying that the combat is similar to Gears. You take cover, you order your squad mates, its third person, you can zoom-in (in the same way you can in Gears). The combat itself isn't quite as satisfying, but the enemies are more varied and you have so many more choices.

Although Mass Effect looks pretty spectacular, COD4 is simply pure dynomite!!!! Best shooter of the year. The campaign is short but makes up with mind blowing sound, boner inducing visuals and just awesome gameplay.g1n2tonic

If the TC doesn't have XBL, CoD 4 might not be worth a buy.

I'mon Live, but I do already have H3 and team fortress 2 to be playing online. I haven't even really played TF2 at all, I just get smoked when I try playing that. And H3 is already getting kind of stale for some reason. Anyway, I'm mostly worried about the combat in ME. Everything about Obvlivion was beautiful and I put a decent amount of time in, but I couldn't really get into it because the combat was poor, IMO. Thanks for the feedback.lumpdizzwax

1. Don't expect Oblivion. Bethesda and Bioware makegreat RPG but they arent the same. Oblivion is more openended but the lesser in every other aspect.

2. Combat in ME is better then that in OBlivion but while many reviews say that it's great other admit that if you were expecting a shooter then youll be disappointed.

3. ME remains a RPG with lots of choice. The RPG elements are everywhere, during combat and especially outside of combat.

I would get it over CoD4 anytime, especially since you enough stuff to do online anyway and CoD4 is nothign without online.

Hm, well I'd still say Mass Effect. But I don't know, I really like the combat...But you might get bored of it or something...

MAss Effect by far.. can't put a shooter over a RPG of its standards you'd only be robbing yourself.. judas-savior

For the record I enjoyed the `combat more than GeoW.. and I do love shooters so dont think im biased.. just did it for me more because there was more of a purpose to the fighting.. I didn't care that much for the enemies in GeoW they just needed to die.. but in Mass Effect I know why I want to kill the geth.. Ive seen what they've done, spoken to the people who have sauffered and experienced it myself (in ther game of course =)..) this is why the combat is so much better.. besides having more abilities and customization I have a reason to fight and that is why it owns other shooters.
