Me personally I have trouble getting on sometimes, but if I try enough times it will eventually find a game for me.

However, my brother says that he can almost NEVER get on a game on Black Ops. Do other people out there have a problem with this as well?

I know that when I try to play zombies with people I know and send them invites, it will not connect, that goes for when I send the invite as well as when the other person sends the invite.

Is this just a problem with the Black Ops servers being notoriously bad?

I never had a problem. Just a question are they actually black ops servers? I thought all the games are hosted by players whoever has the best connections or whatever.

I have a problem connecting with my buddy. He can never join my party and I can never join his. We always have to find someone to host and invite us both so we can game together. We both have top of the line internet connections and have contacted Microsoft numerous times. they blame the internet provider and and the internet provider blames Microsoft. ???? hate it!

Usually connecting to games/friends has to do with your NAT type. Open NAT typehas the best Chance of finding compatible players and Strict NAThas the hardest time finding compatible players. From the Find a Match screen look in the lower right corner and see what your NAT type is. Other then that I got no clue, try going to www.xbox.comand look over the support/help section. Or go to the xbox dashboard and find the console settings and run a test on xbox live connection, if your NAT type is wrong or another setting is off then it will give suggestions on what could fix the issue.

I'm not 100% but I think the servers are the main thing, then within the servers the users are the actual hosts of the game. So inside of the servers is where the hosts exist, they are two diff things.

I mean I don't always have problems finding games, but when it comes to inviting someone to my party or getting into a party where we can play zombies together, we always have problems. But if I wanted to go find a game by myself (Team Deathmatch, etc.) then it's fine.

The person above me mentioned the thing about NAT type, that is true, the NAT type determines who's suitable to play with you but I'm not sure how to get NAT type to be open so I can play with more people. I am gonna try again this weekend and see if I can get someone from Linksys support to help me since Xbox Live support is absolutely useless. If anyone knows how to open the NAT type that would be awesome, because I'm pretty sure that's part of the problem along with the Black Ops servers being notoriously bad.

I agree, Microsoft's support is absolutely terrible. I never have a good experience with them. I think I am going to bite the bullet this weekend and try to get someone on the phone to help me with my problem even if it means me putting my head through a wall. It seems like you can never get someone on the phone that is actually knowledgeable in what they do.

Just today in one match I went through 3 host migrations plus the lag after the migration either kicked everyone but me off or everyone quit. I know when I'm shooting or whatever a suddent hit of lag comes in throwing off my aim. Rather annoying if you ask me.

lol thats a NAT problem, has nothing to do with MS and not really with your ISP. You either have to port forward the correct ports or put your 360s IP as your DMZ host. Also enjoy the irony at the end of your comment because you're not exactly sure what you're talking about, its hard to get a clear solution when you arent even sure what the problem is, other than the general "i cant connect to some people"

I have problems with getting disconneted / booted from games due to poor hosts. :( I don't play Black Ops anymore. I've gone back to World At War and CoD 4. I.E The good CoD games.

Yeah...servers aren't as good as the one's on MW2 (from my experiences)... people get randomly kicked out of my party all the time...same thing happened in the original MW... I thought they finally fixed it with MW2, but it came back in BO. I'm certain that it's not just NAT/ISP issues, because I've never had this many problems with my friends in Halo Reach or Halo 3.

As for fixing the problem you'll need to port forward but that isn't the easiest thing to do if your not knowledgeable with networking. With a linksys router all you need to do is unplug the power cord from the router for 10 seconds and plug it back in, once it reboots the NAT type will be open...at least for a few days :P pretty easy fix if your having alot of problems :)

I actually tried the unplugging the router thing. It used to work on my old linksys but on this new one I have the NAT type stays at "moderate." I tried getting in touch with Linksys support and tehy were only limited help and MS just basically said we can't help it's a router issue even though none of my other games have that problem.

I never had much problem finding matches. The problems start once you're actually playing, since ping is generally terrible, resulting in bad lag and frustration

Yea that's what I mean. When I try to join these games with a friend or something, especially zombies it always gives me problems. I know we're not the only ones either, there are other people I've heard who have this problem. It's a weird thing, you'd think with all the people who've had a problem with it they'd put out some kind of patch or something.

The networking hasn't been competent (competent not good) since COD4. It's due to the complicated networking. Open servers, host migration and a bunch of other crap thats out of my technical comprehensibility. IW nor Treyarch are any good at networking, they should have outsourced that as they did with the building of the engine...

only issue i have is that their switching host sucks. When the host migration takes places more then half the time the game shuts down and returns to the lobby with everyone then what it should do but hey atleast it dosn't kick everyone out
