Do people really mind if you don't have a headset?

I do not have a headset and don't particularly want one, but I thought it might be considered bad form in Team matches, (in something like CoD4) would not having a headset ruin the experience for myself or others? I'd like to be able to play some team matches, but if it makes it significantly harder or less enjoyable for others, I'll just stick to Free-for-alls.

Thanks.

You'll be fine as long as you dont play Rainbow Six Vegas lol. Vegas is known for brutality when it comes to people with no mics. The hosts will give you 5 seconds to put a mic in or youre gone lol. Trust me, I know from experience.

I have a headset and I could care less if you have one in COD4,although it is nice to have a full team of people with mics.

if u play any team game..still use one. Just dont talk if ur voice cracks..u can still hear info that people are giving u on positions of the enemy and stuff.. u have no idea that most of the best players in the world use mics..and the reason they are good is because their teammates help them...I.e. telling them to cover me..telling where they saw a guy at..and everything..

20 dollars for a mic is alot, luckily I got the premium pack so I don't really have to see the mic with the labeled 20 dollars.

the concept of booting people out of a game because they dont have a headset is the most ridiculas thing ever.

Some people dont want one and others can't afford one. and it can be that some people just can not get one.

I had drama getting a new headset when my old one broke. had to buy an old game with headset just for the headset from ebay and wait for it to arrive. I got kicked out of a couple of games. the users got obscene messages about it from me.

a person who buys a game, but doesn't have a head set has the same right to play that game online as a person who has a headset.

I've never come across people getting mad because others don't have a mic... In CoD4 most people on my team don't have a mic.(I have one... but most of the time it's pointless to use it since no one else does on my team or will talk back.)

No offense to anyone but if you have the money to buy a $400 system AND $60 games, then you should have the money to get a $20 mic. Especially since the 360 comes with a mic.

I dont know about getting booted. What games can people boot you if it's a ranked game? I hated playing games on PC because of getting booted for whatever reason but at least in that case the person who booted me actually owned the server. I know I have been booted from an XBOX LIVE game but I can't think of which one it was.

there are advantages and disadvantages of having a headset or not and gaming with it, such as being kicked out of a game when you dont have a headset plugged in or stuff like missing out on stuff where you want to say something but dont have one, but i recommend getting one, its cheap and worth it.

Yes, for sure. It sometimes depends on what game you are playing as well. Battlefield:MC has a horrible setup for the mic and practically no one uses it in the game. Other games such as Rainbow are made for the mic. You should get it for sure.

You're paying for live just like everyone else so you can play any way you like, if you don't want to use a mic, don't. The tossers who get upset over people not using a mic are the ones with the problem. The "community" aspect is vastly over-rated, little more than dickheads screaming over the mic for no reason and clan members muttering away about the best way to cheat the other team.

Personally I keep my mic on when I play but I don't speak unless I'm specifically being addressed. 99% of the time, you don't need to say anything, yet if you are a good player you'll still win for your team. I've found this on RS Vegas, Lost Planet and Halo 3. What little talking there is tends to be people complaining about being killed or people talking to their friends (or their dog) obviously forgetting that their mics are switched on.

To summerise, if people don't like players not using mics, tough **** Get over it, it's not your concern how others choose to play. Recieving orders from some drunken aggressive stranger over a mic isn't everyone's idea of fun, oddly enough.

every game is usually fine, apart from rainbow six. that has elevated level of communication and team play and your really are ruining the chances of your team winning. people who dont use the headset or have one and dont communicate with the team whats going on are frawnd upon, and yes no mic usually get kicked out the ranked lobbys.

only game i agree it shud happen and only one it really does. to be honest ya really shudnt play r6 with no headset its half the game online without it. most other games its no where near as bad as they just seem like teams of individuals apart from people who play together all the time

advice to the lad who's voice is breaking id plug ur headset in so they can see ur on a headset and so u can listen and if ya dont feel confident to talk then just listen as it still probs help you to get into it. no need for people to slag people for just being young unless ya being abusive

I had a wired headset, jumped right into an online game and when I spoke, I was bullseyed as target one, the other time some people just ripped on me so I tossed it. But now, I bought a wireless headset and use it when Im on system link or with people I know, but usually if I just jump into any random online matches, team or otherwise I dont use it and I think a lot of other people dont too, so its not a requirement. Most of the time, there is too much chatter or one guy is yelling and yelling.. and yelling. For me I use a headset with friends but when playing online with people I dont know, I dont use it.

Ya, people are stupid online. RSV is a necessity with a headset, but there are too many chubby greasy sounding dudes. I'm playing a game I hear this greasy guy going, "Heh huh heh (him breathing) WHAT'S YOUR POSTIO-heh huh heh-N! I, being a nice person, made a joke and said, "Doggy Style". Heh huh heh, "That S*** wasn't funny you heh huh heh *Gasp* heh huh heh heh huh heh huh heh *gasps* oh F*** this can't be happening!"

I still don't what happened to that guy. I think hes dead

if you cant stand a particular person or group, LEAVE THE MATCH. If its just one person, MUTE HIM/HER. Bunch of little kids whining over having a mic or not. If you had to scrape up money for a 360 then you shouldnt get one in the first place. Save up that money for something that you actually NEED and not want. Free for all its understandable. but if you are playing team games, USE A MIC. I hate when im playing halo 3 and i get a whole team without mics vs a group that has mics then we get slaughtered 50-13. Hell, it doesnt matter how good you are because a death is counts much more than a kill. You can go the whole game without dying once but you have teammates to account for. I dont even bother playing random matches anymore unless im in a group.

Your post is why I love the way RS:V has it's online set up. If I host a room and want everyone to have a mic and talk, then that's how it's going to be. If someone comes in without a mic, his ass is booted. No questions asked. It doesn't matter if he pays for his own Live. If you're going to come into a team based game like Rainbow, you better have a mic.

If people don't like it, host your own room then. Good luck with no mic though.

Well, many games such as CoD, Gears, and RB6V rely on communication. I will admit it does lower the way the team performs, but I've seen teams with no mics completely own the other team. But communication does help in a fair, and balanced match.

Its more annoying to have someone on your team that doesnt have a headset than it is to have someone on the team singing tina turner in monotone. ALSO annoying is people entering team games in private chat! wtf?

I don't use a headset. When I played Rainbow Six Vegas you would get booted if you didn't have one... but in a game like Call of Duty 4, the action is too fast for communication to make much of a difference when playing with random players. I guess it depends on the game, but I don't think anyone will care.

Take my word for it, nobody really cares and to be honest most people I have seen on Halo 3 or Rainbow Six Vegas, don't speak/don't have a headset.

What a load of horse **** that is. In australia the xbox 360 do not come with a mic or head set. they are more than $400 as well. I think if you buy the $729 elite pack you may be a headset. Just because someone has the money to spend on the console and the game ($100 here) that DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY MEAN THEY HAVE THE EXTRA FOR HEADSETS.

regardless on anyones situation. having a headset should be up to the individual and not forced upon them by others who want them to have one.
