Do the Transforming D-Pads still break easily?

I recently got the Gears 3 360 with two controllers which have the D-Pad, however ive heard they have break easily but the problem isnt as bad as before. How true is this and should i go a little easy on them?

I'd avoid throwing them or smashing them with a hammer if possible.

Had mine for a few months now and haven't had any problems. Then again, never heard of those problems to begin with.

havent had a issue with mine then again when i get annoyed at a game i dont slam or throw my controler like most people(cod community im looking right at you)

Had mine for a few months now and haven't had any problems. Then again, never heard of those problems to begin with.

Well the original silver controllers were known for breaking spontaneously even without abuse.

The D-pad on the new controllers are strudy. What have people been doing to their controllers?

I got two of the silver controllers a couple weeks after their release and both of the dpads came off of the controllers. I did not throw or treat them in a careless manner. They actually popped off and shot into te air. I was out $120 2 months after getting them. I stay away now I have two corded controllers.

I gotta say this...I too have the Gears xbox and honestly don't see a point to the whole transforming d-pad. I've watched the videos about how they are "supposed" to benefit the player but I honestly don't notice a difference between the two "transformations".
