I would never buy a game solely to get achievements. I will never play through a game a 2nd time to just get more achievement. I am thorough when i play games and usually get about half the achievments by simply playing the game though.

its fun to get achievements and rack up your score but people who base their entire xbox expeirence only on achievements...well i guess thats kind of a waste, your not really having fun are you?

Don't you suppose that if a person's participating in a hobby, then they probably enjoy it? If somebody has fun seeing "Achievement Unlocked," then--stay with me here--that's probably fun for them. Amazingly, not every person in the world enjoys the exact same things as you do.
ummm since when?I think that the challenge of getting 1000g on a game is pretty cool and i do care about my gamerscore but i wouldn't buy a game just for the gamerscore, maybe i would borrow Avater because it is an easy 1000g but i like to play the campaign as well as hearing the satisfying ting that is the 'achievment unlocked' i actually think that the aspect of gamerscore adds a purpose to playing a game over and over again and it does keep people entertained for longer because of the challenge.
Well, buying games just for gamerscore is ridiculous. But I do care about my score. Dunno why really. I just like to see the number go up. I like knowing I've got the most out of my games also, so going back and replaying them for achievements is something I always do.Hotwire246
yeah same for me, i like to do certain things in order to get achievements in games that i buy for the enjoyment of but i never buy/rent games just for the achievements. I only really find it good when i compare my score to my friends score, or to race through a game and beat them at getting all the achievements.

Oddly enough, I thought gamerscore was currency for the Xbox LIVE marketplace before I went online. Now that I know the truth, I just wonder if there really is a point to these points other than to show off.

Getting achievements for ms points would be a great idea/incentive. Although i just think achievements are fun to get, though i play through the game first then go back for any achievements
they add a small amount of replay value, I actually play Half life 2 on the 360 instead of the PC even though I own both.
Actually when I was working at Gamecrazy and you would get free rentals I would do that. Man did I ever hate Superman and I actually rented it and went and turned it back in after two hours of playing that crap.A friend I know rents games he knows he'll hate just to rack up more achievements, which I think is nuts.

Yeah later on I just started playing games that I like and try harder to get achievement points on those games only.
i like the pop up when you get one but i dont care about gamerscore it probrably would be better if they did away with gamerscore and just kept track of your achievements
Yes I care, yes I will play through pretty bad games just to boost my gamerscore (e.g. The Golden Compass). I know it's nuts, I know it's just a number, but it gives me bragging rights among my firends who have a lower GS.
Plus I don't want to look like a stereotypical 'girl gamer' with a lousy gamerscore ;)
I really don't care about archievements, Just the games, if I did my gamerscore would be higher after 3 years of playing don't you think?, as a matter of fact half of those points I have, were earned by my nephew, I play more often on my pc, but I do play from time to time on my 360.
If im not enjoying the game chances are I will have 10/1000 achievement points. case in point DOA volleyball.

I play my gamesregardless of achievements but it does help.In the past when I played a game I sometimes get to a point and don't want to continue. I found that with the achievements, it gives you that littlemotivation to try again and played it again. So as a whole achievements can't be all bad it all depends on how you look at it.
