I've played a few free to play ones and a little bit of WoW. They're fun but not stuff I'd play on a constant basis. So no, I don't hate them.
MMOs are way to simple. Their is no strategy, no story, just a bunch of peopole running around bragging about their lvl 90 Uber Elf King Wizard thingy and spending $15 a month to do so. They supossedly have "lasting appeal", but that's just level grinding. MMOs are probably the worst genre in gaming.
I did try this one called Atlantica ONline that lasted longer than any other. It was free, but the cool thing was that it had turn-based combat. You hired Mercenaries and leveled them up as well as yourself. It was fun, but only for the combat and that didn't last long because of no story.
No, I use to play Runescape and I have a level 80 account. Now that I have LIVE though I don't play it much any more.
I played so much MMOs in the past 4 years, im still not sick of it, I like knowing that im not the only one playing, if i play elder scrolls, i get way too lonely and if i dont have someone in my chatroom i hardly ever play it. I love to *party* or *group* the most in mmos, making it a lot of fun. Infact, i might start a new MMO coming soon for the pc, AiON, played the beta and its amazing by now.
Runescape I wouldn't consider an mmo, it just doesnt feel like one for me. The game has little skill involved and is much more based around luck. Most mmos have skill bars with variety of strategy. Sure you have strategy in your choice of combat style and weapon switches, but its not very deep. I consider it an MMO for children. No, I use to play Runescape and I have a level 80 account. I played WoW for about a year with a friend. It can be fun socially speaking, but the whole game mechanic of a MMO is based on an addictive ego trip. I wouldn't say I hate them, but I would never recommend one to someone and I can't imagine that I will ever play one again.

Are you serious lol, an mmo is a game with a lot of people in it, and it does, i played runescape for 2 years and its very skillfull, theres for example 26 different skills lol XD no but seriously, there are some things you need to think about. No, I use to play Runescape and I have a level 80 account. I dont hate MMO's but some games belong as mmos and some do not such as the ES series should not ever be an mmo
I'm the complete opposite of this guy. I've never played an MMO because I can't be bothered talking to people online. I love Oblivion because I can play it by myself and play it however I want.I played so much MMOs in the past 4 years, im still not sick of it, I like knowing that im not the only one playing, if i play elder scrolls, i get way too lonely and if i dont have someone in my chatroom i hardly ever play it.
