Ya big difference...make sure you change your setup blade to the resolution you want.  Also check your component cable and make sure it's set for HD.

Huge difference. I took my 360 round to a mates the other day he has a regular 24-26" t.v and i couldn't even play oblivion, it looked so ugly. It was dark, fuzzy, etc....Everything is much sharper in HD. I'd find it hard to go back now.

HD is a big leap especially on a large TVs. Try plugging in standard av cables to a 50" TV and then use component cables. It'll trip you out.

I see a big difference.  Less jagged, colors are more pristine, and textures are more detailed.  The bricks in Gears actually stood out when I upgraded and when looking around everything stays looking pretty smooth.  I have a Samsung S-5687 1080p by the way.  Only downfall is I do see RBE on slight occasion but there isn't any game lag like older models.

If you can't tell a difference between HD and SD or ED, then there's a problem. Either you have really bad eyes, you've set it up wrong, or your HDTV is way too small.

If u do not see much difference i am pretty sure you are doing something wrong

yzou should check:

1 - Switch on Xbox 360 component cable that goes to the tv.There is a switch on that cablee (Look where the cable is connected to the 360) Make sure it is set to HDTV and not SDTV

2 - xbox Settings - On the blade for the settings check that the resolution is set properly for your tv

I do not think someone with eyes can not notice a HUGE difference between standard and HD.

I actually find huge the difference between 480p and 720 P as well

Hope this helps

No. Not really.

But if you play NFS Carbon on a standard TV, I noticed that the framerate was smoother than on an HD TV.

I dont know about other games.

No i've set up everything right I know and it's on 720p

The movie trailors look amazing on it but games look alright but I suppose the games I play at the moment don't have amazing graphics

And my HDTV is only 26 inch should I be able to see the difference still?

The bigger the screen, the better for HDTV. It's not really even worth it if you just have a 26" TV. I play on a 50" HDTV and it looks amazing. I've never played 360 on an SDTV, but I can't imagine it would look anywhere near as good.

it'z a huge huge diffrence man. i mean the game looks crisp, the detail in the surrounding are better and the gameplay is more intense when u play in hd ...unlike std. if u dun't see the diff. then check to see if ur component is set to hdtv not t.v lol.

Frame rates should be smoother when in SD because the 360 has less work to do.  The higher you set the resolution, the more work the 360 is doin.  A scarifice for the better graphics.

I recently upgraded from a POS 27" CRT television to a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD and the difference is staggering.

If you can't see the difference, either your TV isn't good enough or it's not configured properly. Chances are good that it's the latter, as even a lower end 720p display should run circles around a 480i CRT junker.

i do at first but once i get into the game not really.  when i am over at my one buddies house that does not have a hdtv i notice when we first start the games.  but then when you have been playing for 10 20 minutes and you are into the game it does not really matter much at all.

Your wrong, while it is better for bigger tvs, the higher the resolution the closer you can also sit to it, so you can sit much closer to a 26inch HDTV to see the detail HD provides, but if far away like 10 feet, then obviously it's not worth it. You might as well be saying all PC monitors should be 640*480 or lower because they are around 20inches. And are not the console displays at stores generally use 26inch LCDs, you saying you don't think it makes a difference there?

While games will never be sharp as real life video in HD, high resolution does benefit games. But it depends how close you sit to your 26inch tv, so how far do you sit? And is it LCD or a tube tv?

Some of the benefits would mainly be more defeinition around objects and characters in games, this lets you see things in the distance much more clearly, which is a must for a shooter game. Edges on polygons will have more pixels to draw them so jaggies will be smaller. And a lot more definition in textures, but as always you can get too close to a texture to see it become lower res than the screen it's taking up.

For Gears, definitely make sure the console is set to 720p, since that's the closest your LCD is to, given it's either 1280*720 or 1366*768 resolution. Sometimes I set things higher at 1080i for my 1366*768 tv to downscale, mainly for movies, but with some games, especially Gears it, it looked like it took the 1080i down to 540p and upscaled to 720p.

Try setting the console to 480p or even 480i with the yellow composite cable. HD games are nothing too amazing, it's only what PC gamers have had for 5+ years at 1280*960 resolution and higher. But it really helps gaming as whole, even if the game doesn't look great, so try putting it into perspective by switching to 480i to see the difference it makes.

No because the game still renders at 720p or it's native res even when played on SDTV the only diffrence is that it is downscaled to your TV's res.  This is also why text appears so small on some games.  Or if you have your tv set to a higher res than that of the game it will upscale it to fill your 1080p or 1080i screen. Your framerate should not be effected in any way.  It may just be your tv if you notice a diffrence.

But we're talking about consoles too. When I was a kid the console usually was on the floor and I sat on the end of the bed or on the floor right in front of the tv (27inch SD) back then, never did I sit back far away on a couch, especially since the cords were not that long. With a 26inch LCD, you should be able to sit really close and benefit from the HD. Not as close as a monitor, but 3-5 feet.
