I play games I like for achievements. Example: I've got 1000/1000 from Mass Effect, but I'm not going to go for achievements in my little brother's copy of Cars. I try to use the Achievements as a measure of how much value I have gotten out of the game, for the most.

No so much. I would of played Halo, Gears, and Cod4 on the hardest setting because i liked them though. But like in Halo I will go the triple sword kill and stuff. That little *blip* sound makes you feel good. :)

I buy quality games, but I strive for Achievements in the game. I won't buy a game for an Achievement, but if I buy the game because it is good, I will try to get Achievements.

No, I'll never play a bad game for achievements, I do however replay alot of games because of achievements, I always get as many as I can for all my games. I love this system, it gives games with less replay value a second chance.

I usually play the game through first. Then I go for achievements.

Here's the deal, you know a game is good, when you play it for the game, and achievments dont matter.

Some games do achievements really well, by basically playing the game, you get them, which is good.

Used to look at a game's achievement list before I even started the game, now I just play. I don't try to get them anymore.

A wicked game shall always be wicked. The sensation that you achieved everything that the developer wanted you to experience makes a game above and beyond. Achievements when done well are an excellent measure of your skill and total completion of a game.....Love it.

It is also to be noted the is no freaking way i would play a garbage game for achievements.

Same here, same here. I'll try to get every achievement in a game I like, but I also play the game to enjoy it. I find doing both at the same time easy to do.

i love achivements, they bring a whole new level to all games, but saying that i wont play games i hate or ones just because they have easy achivements, but all games i own i thrive for 1000 and if i rent or borrow, ill settel for 700ish.

as someone said before yeah i wouldnt play on the hardest difficulty if it wasnt for them, i usually play on hard or normal. not insane, legendary or veteran.

my second rule is they must come legitimately, none of this "lets play for achivements" crap.

no, i used too but not anymore. when i buy/rent a game i try to get all of the achievements though because i hate only seeing 130/1000 for a game, and i like to get all i can out of a game. BUT i was in a gamerscore challenge to win some money and i went all out and played games i hated, and after it was over i realized it was just pointless because i'd play a game that bored me for like 8 hours, not worth it to me.

I like getting them and do try to get as many as I can but I don't worked up about it if I can't. There are some achievements that I know I will never get and I accept that.

Yes and no

I never really got into them at first and they are not balanced across games. My mate got 1000g in achievements in a game called avatar in like 5 minutes! Then in other games you can get like only 50g for completing a game and 10 hours gameplay!

HOWEVER, that said, I think the achievements do add gameplay. not everyone can afford loads of games, so anything that adds gameplay is a good thing in my book.

Agreed. If I'm in the mood I'll go for some hard achievements (Historian for Bioshock for example) but I usually just play the game for fun.

Well, first of all, I play for fun. As we all do. And then I may play for achievements for replay value. It sorta-kinda gives you a reason to go back and play a game. You can say it's a great motivational tool for some of us gamers who find it hard to replay a game the second time through. If it was a perfect world, I would like to see more download content for games like Call of Duty 4, Lost Odyssey, Halo 3, and Gears of War, and others. Things like extra missions, weapons, and neat perks would really give us gamers more of a reason to replay our games, not only that, but give us a bang for our hard earned bucks. Disagree as you may, but I would have loved to see the Brumak in Gears of War original, and not Gears of War 2. Although, now that they have decided to include that in Gears of War 2, the upcoming sequel will be a lot bigger and badder. I play for fun, and replay for achievements. Thanks for reading.

Yah i could call myself an achievment whore, there are some games i only played for the points(lonney tunes acme arsenal). But i will never buy a horrible game for the points, i rent them.
