Of course you can change the backround -- I mean come on.. Thats a big part of the dashboard now!
Its a very CLEAN CUT, stylish looking dashboard.
The only thing you dont like is the avatars, WELL DONT USE THEM THEN! There not Mii's .. They managed to make the
avatars look very stylish and sleek and not look overly childish.
Everything will work out in the end!

im kinda undecided on the new dashboard, im pretty sure after a week or two getting use to it ill probably love it, but the avatars are so whack, chatting with them and everythings cool but just having there everytime i sign on is kinda weird
Its cool and all but its nothing we havnt seen... Its really just the PSN and Miis combined and i do have to raise 1 question, what will happen to all our themes? Some of us payed for them so microsoft better either includ some how to fit them in or give us back our money even though its a small ammount, in other words... I want my money back!!

Seriously, I like the look of it, and it looks like it's great, but it's a rip off of both the Wii (the avatars have a striking resemblance to Miis...) and the design is similar to the PSN's. I don't know, although I personally think that the 360 will be able to make the Mii--- avatars more of a social thing.
how much do they want to copy others i mean the new dashboard update looks abit like the psn and acatars copying from the wii? also i hear MS making a type of wiimote and motion controller
It looks like the themes will work the same way judging by how the background switched when they went to play uno. I bet they will put the gamerpics as a background for the avatar. I would seriously doubt that MS would screw the people who paid for gamerpics and themes
if the gray could be changed to an image that you want or themes still exist and could shape everything differently, then i will absolutely adore the new dashboard.

Yes, but it was for like 2 seconds and probably on accident. It's basicly a mini version of the dash we have right now. This is from the letter Major Nelson got from the XBL GM: Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it's not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.
I Totally HATE IT !!!, I don't want my x360 looking like a .....g wii, that was part of the reason why I bought a xbox360, because it's modern dashboard , at least they should give you an option if you want the new or the old, I much rather have my themes and wallpapers, than a fu......mii in my dashboard, I'm almost 40 years, I DON'T CARE FOR THOSE MIIS, im not gonna update my elite. In my opinion, the new one is just plain ugly. From the moment I first booted up my xbox I loved the Dashboard; it is sleek, easy to use, and it looks rather cool, again my opinion. The new one, however, deviates from what the main demographic of Xbox users want. Those avatars, and just the whole feel of the new dashboard are rather childish, compared to the more mature and masculine vibe the old dashboard gave off, which I think is what the majority of people want, not those lame little kiddie avatars. This actually really pisses me off, as it shows that MS doesn't have a **** clue why people bought their console, and I can't trust them to deliver in the future. Also, it is really **** annoying if I can't use my themes and gamer pics which I paid for. Damn those gay avatars better be optional.

I have always been a very calm person but , not this time i don't play online just play my games with my family and this elite is something i bought for me, don't want a funny looking system , sorry for the rant but when I saw that dashboard in g4tv I was......well that thing look like a wii and I personally don't like nintendo and those childish miis, again sorry for my rant
and yes im almost 40 I was born on july 27 1970 believe it or not

I read somewhere that you can switch to either one after the update... can't remember where i read that, so you'll have to search google yourself. IF and thats a big IF thats true, then you have no reason to "freak out" 40 year old virgin dood.

It's all about ease of use. If the new dashboard is easier to navigate, I'll like it better. I just hope they don't rip off PlayStation too much with it
Its going to take some time to get used to; it'll almost make the 360 seem like a whole new console. I really like the whole avatar and party thing, though. I just hope that for unlocking certain acheivements that you get certain clothes to put on your avatar. Ex: Beating Gears 2 so you get a Gears logo shirt to put on your avatar.
I prefer the new one but I wouldnt mind if we had to stick with the old. I hope the new Xbox 360 dashboard features a longer message recorder. Those 8-second voice messages sucked big time. At least give us a 1-minute voice message.
