I mean, c'mon.

You talk withcharacters with drugged looking eyes who basically tell you where this person lives or not to go here or there and you walk around and fire ammo into a few creatures and this goes on for about 100+ hours.

I try to give all games a chance, but can anyone tell me what specifically gets you excited about the game or what stands out about it?

Maybe I'm missing the point

For me personally, I like the fact that an annoying character (any annoying character) at any time, can be killed whenever I just can't stand them anymore. In most other games I don't get to do that.

Not many peoplelike Fallout as much as everyone thinks. Nuff said. I don't think hardly anyone can point ANYTHING out thats great about the game other than just saying "it's great"

How about 'It's great because you can shoot people with a nuclear warhead'? (Blew up Three Dog that way. Who knew Bethesda would let you kill him?)

Your opinion does not equal everyone else's opinion. I haven't met a single person who's said it was a bad game. I've heard a couple people say it was too hard and that is it.

im pretty sure they do, just because u dont THINK they do, doesnt mean its true ;) I loved the game, but to be honest i preffered oblivion. The things i liked about fallout was the freedom, the weapons and the deep characters you ran into on your journeys. i loved meeting new people in the game (mainly quest related) because they most of the time had something of value to say

I loved the story and some or many of the side quests. I thought the gameplay was an intriguing way of playing a shooter. The setting eventually lost its novelty (I didn't "hate" it; I just quit caring), but that didn't happen until well after I'd beaten the game and had been playing through the game over and over. The game is by no means for everyone (the same went for Morrowind and, probably, for Oblivion -- which I, sadly, have yet to play), but I love it.

I love how you basically get to choose what goes on in the Fallout world. If you *SPOILER* blow up Megaton in the beginning than you are cut off from a huge part of the game and go into this entire other part of the game. The decision making is fun and the ability to explore so many places.

Does that speech success glitch still work with the girl in little lamplight?? I need 20 more speech succese and going around and finding people to talk to is not easy.

I've heard a few people say that they truly disliked the game*, but those people seemed to be in the vast minority. (That doesn't mean that one side is "right" or "wrong"; it simply means that Fallout 3 has a really large fanbase.) * As to whether or not the game's naysayers were complaining about the fact that the game is a 3D real-time shooter instead of an isometric turn-based game (a complaint I've heard several times), I have no idea.

It does indeed work. I don't know if this glitch has been fixed via patch, but since I don't have Xbox Live, I used that glitch to get the last four speech successes I needed. But yes, I did enjoy how the game gives the player that level of choice so early on.

Ok mate here is an amazingly easy way to get that achievement; 1-Clear your cache to remove the update 2-When u put fallout 3 in, dont install the update 3-Load your saved game from where your just about to exit the vault (should have been an auto save, this will allow you to change all your attributes) 4-Max out charisma and intelligence, and put all your points into speech (you should also gain a level from when u exit the vault, all points into speech, intelligence gives u more) 5-Go STRAIGHT to Big Town and do the glitch as normal, should take u about 10 minutes or less

Those Behemoths really aren't that bad with the proper equipment and tactics (mini-nukes and bottlecap mines are very good solutions).
The Behemoth in Takoma Industrial Park can be taken down with the help of an abandoned truck that just happens to have a small piece of artillery on its back (the artillery piece has effectively unlimited ammunition but will need to be repaired after firing several times).
It's a great game. Oblivion's better, though. Of course not all of it's action, it's an RPG, not a shooter. They don't give you a gun and tell you ' shoot everything that moves, and stand on people's bodies to get their ammo or gun'. You have quests and such and freedom to be whatever you like, not the same, basic characters in shooters.

Doesn't change much. You can still do "Tenpenny Tower" if you blow up Megaton or not, and you can also do "The Wasteland Survival Guide" if you blow it up cause the shop keeper just moves to underworld.

Going around randomly in a free wide roam post apocalyptic adventure while blasting the living crap outta anything thats moves...you would have to be some sort of a Monk (peace lover) not to like the game. Few games like that, need to be more like it.

Unfortunately, I haven't got to beat or try the add ons to it yet. My Xbox=Dead at the moment, but I got a few hours into it, and yes so far I love it. One of my favorite games, can't wait to get back into it.

Wow if that's all you think of Fallout you obviously didn't play it too long. That description doesn't do Fallout 3 justice at all. Hell describing any game like that makes it sound lame. Here are some examples. COD4: All you do is listen to some jerk on your radio and you shoot terrorists. Gears of War: Some weird creatures start popping out of the earth and you shoot them. Mass Effect: You talk to a bunch of weird looking aliens while trying to stop some jerk from taking over the galaxy with his robot army. Bioshock: You get stuck in some underwater city and you have to shoot your way out. Resident Evil 5: You go to Africa and you shoot a bunch of infected Africans before they eat you.

Fallout 3 is in my top 10 of all time (and I've been gaming since the 80s). Among a ton of reasons, the number one thing about it is immersion. It is so spooky and surreal to be in the Wasteland and the ruins of D.C. I can't help but to explore every area and find all the easter eggs and treasures hidden in the massive world. Finding special weapons and schemtics, having random encounters with people, a satisfyiing story and side quests, getting different perks, and the intense combat are some of my other reasons.

I don't expect everyone to love this game like I do, but people have to admit that it is a quality and fun game to the majority of people. It wouldn't have sold so well and won a ton of awards if it wasn't a good game. I didn't really enjoy Bioshock, but I realize that most people did and that is a quality game.

Do I like Fallout 3.. I dont like it. I love it. But lets put it this way, after I bought it, it collected dust and I didnt even touch it for about a month on my counter after playing it for a mere 30 minutes. I really didnt start liking it until I was well into investing my 5th hour in the game.

Not many peoplelike Fallout as much as everyone thinks. Nuff said. I don't think hardly anyone can point ANYTHING out thats great about the game other than just saying "it's great"

You couldn't be more wrong. Fallout 3 is a great game with a vast world & tons of extra missions & exploring to extend way past the already pretty long main campaign.

Once again people pointing out that "its a great game." Truly the world isn't that vast when you look at how it all looks the same. Oblivion had way more quests and a much larger world to explore. And truly the campaign wasn't that long. You could beat it in a day or two if that.

Check my above post. I gave my reasons.

Also, the campaign, without a guide, would take several days to beat. As for Oblivion, yes it is longer and bigger, but it lacks the immersion and atmosphere that Fallout 3 exceeds so much at. I prefer the context of a nuclear winter rather than a fantasy world of orcs and such. Also, I prefer the perk system in Fallout and VATS. I like Oblivion too, but Fallout 3 sucks me in so much more.

You have to think about its entirety and wholeness. You have to try to at least collect items instead of running around shooting things. Think about it.

This game is not as good as Oblivion, fact - not - opinion. When I beat the game in well under 30 hours, I was upset. I've since played out every side mission except for "Gotta Shoot Em' In The Head", and I'm still fairly underwhelmed. I hope that Elder Scrolls 5 isn't going to be going in this direction.

Oh, come on. So since a game is longer that means that it is better? Oblivion and Fallout are great games, and IT IS A MATTER OF OPINION. I prefer Fallout. You prefer Oblivion. Congrats.

That would be a fact if you in Oblivion you could carry a shotgun & blow ghoul's faces off.

How is this a FACT? I hated that boring lame-fest Oblivion.

i realy liked it i dont know why all of a sudden iam finding all this hate for this game. Its the best game this gen if any game was given a 10 it should of been this one, its much better then metal gear solid 4 and GTA 4. the storyline is great theres alots of suff to see. there is a nice amount of quests and it has a lot of replay value
