whats the difference if they waited the same ammount of people would buy it and every one knows its a killer FPS
CaUs3
Halo3 sales isn't the idea behind it, messing up Sony is. Halo3 will sell consoles, which means people that held off till Halo3 to buy the Xbox360 will now have one for christmas so they can buy more games for the Xbox360.
E3 wasn't trashed it's happening in July, just it's exclusive to press and devs only, so no more freaks. And I actually think September is an opportune time to release, using Halo 2 as an example most sales happened at the midnight launch, with what? 5 million that night give or take? Halo 3 will make plenty of hardware and software sales and then boom GTA IV making it sell best on 360, at least that's the way I thought of it. And from the looks of it Sony is digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole with decreasing sales and losing a sh** load of money, not to say they won't make no comeback at all, but they just put themselves in a bad situation. Microsoft knows what they're doing this time around, they didn't become one of if not the biggest company in the world with stupid business strategies, no offense. I think Xbox 360 actually has the best lineup this year, but I'm also loving PS3's I can't wait for Uncharted and Ratchet!
i wasn't talking about advertising the game...i was talking about giving the game a better showcase. anybody remember E3 2004 when bungie showed off halo2's MP? i was hoping bungie would show off halo3's single player before releasing it.lawlessx
Well it's pretty much a given that Bungie doesn't show off any of Halo's gameplay storyline until it's released, they like to surprise people if you know what I mean...(ending to Halo 2 and getting to play as the Arbitor).

but its not like then to not show ANYTHING before its release. a short cutscene showing the graphics is good enough for me.

Well what about that one video you know where MC is on Earth and we see him hijack a vehicle for the first time and what not? That was a reasonable showing lol.
Consider this 'beta' as a multiplayer showing. Yes, it's incomplete, but anyone who has played in a TRUE 'beta' will tell you that this is closer to a demo than anything.
And it's not like they really need to market it too hard. People will just buy it because it's Halo, it's that simple. I don't know what the PS3 has coming in between now and September, but this seems like an attempt to steal potential fence sitters who are waiting for a killer ap on either system, most of which usually come in the November period.

...... are we talking about halo3..or halo2 :? well anyway i hope bungie/microsoft knows what they're doing
I played The H3 Beta today, and all I can say is, it felt so fufilling and right.ross131313
Agreed. It's got a great feel and the new features are so well-integrated. It evolved in the right direction and Halo 3 feels like a natural progression of everything that has made the multiplayer so good in the first place.
Right, the beta has to be close to a demo, because they will not have much time to fix the bugs and what not between now and September. Remember they have to make copies of the game and box them all up and then have them shipped every where.... Wow I wonder how many updates to the game will be made from all of this?Consider this 'beta' as a multiplayer showing. Yes, it's incomplete, but anyone who has played in a TRUE 'beta' will tell you that this is closer to a demo than anything.

also if halo 3 comes out in september then what does the 360 have coming out in december and november.istayonfireboy
Truth is, probably more and more copies of Halo 3! Even GOW sold strong for months and months--lots of big titles do. To tell the truth, I'm not sure what else is coming out around Xmas for the 360, but there must be a few big ones.

i know its a big game but you cant just leave it up to one game thet can end horribaly why cause gta4 would be coming out in the month after and last time a gta came out it was san andreas and it killed halo 2 gta could im not going to say easily but they could steal the show from halo3 even if gta4 comes out on both ps3 and 360 that games is still known as a jack the ripper when released this close to another game i mean i may not be right but i think bungie was trying to get the upper hand on gta this time around and all the other high profile games that come out around that time

Are you saying that GTA is going to steal Halo's thunder? I completely disagree with you on so many levels.Couple of thoughts:
-The beta IS their advertising. People who can't play it are hearing about it from friends who can, those who can are (for the most part) enjoying themselves. Ergo, no need for X07.
-It's HALO. It doesn't really need advertising. My dad can't tell the difference between a 360 and a Wii and HE knows what Halo is.
-By launching it in September, a few days after the last day of summer, they prevent preorderers like me from getting chilly waiting in line. Actually, this is the point I like the most.
Im not talking about giving bungie more time to work on the game, but to promote it. since E3 was trashed, bungie didnt have the chance to give halo3 a great showing. sony would most likely steal the show at TGS by releasing info on PShome and MGS4.. which leaves microsoft with nothing. my point is..why not delay the game untill nov and show off the game at this years X7? lawlessxI believe MS is releasing Halo 3 is Sept because its ready and GTA4 comes out in Oct and its looking more and more likely Microsofts heavy hitter for Nov will be Mass Effect.

damn that makes so much sense to me. So Im seeing as this... July - two world (if it sticks) August - bio shock Sept - Halo 3 Oct - GTA 4 Nov/Dec - lost oddyssey, too human, and mass effect would do a killing. Plus Bungie droppin h3 in sept by holiday time more 360's will be out there to help the sells of the other ms titles.

I completely disagree with you on so many levels.hey you can disagree all you want it happened once and it can happen again gta4 is going to sell both the ps3 and 360 you probably say halo is going to sell alot which it will. but just because a game has word of mouth dosent mean that you can get awhole bunch people of to by it. unlike gta wich sells becasue its a good and it's known to have a whole bunch of controversy and thats sells a whole lot of more copies then word of mouth. i mean evertime a gta game comes out a new station is talking about the most cotroversial game is about to come out news and controversy equals way more sells then beta word of mouth and pushing a release date up.
they should wait until December (for christmas purchases)
but honestly, it probably doesn't make a difference, because all sales are through pre-orders anywaysÂ
I think they are not, they should release it in mid November and take that extra month or so the polish it up even more, and by them releasing it in September instead of November it takes away that magical feeling of playing right before the holiday season and prepares you for the holidays. I think releasing it in sep will just take all the magical feeling of playing it, especially since it will still be hot outside instead being too cold to even think about going outside.acidic_dudeditto

yep, plus in september my online fps time will be devoted to Unreal Tornament, Bungie should wait more than 3 weeks for that game to cool downÂ

Not to mention Blue Dragon in August. And Fable 2's supposed to be out by year's end. 360 FTW, dude.Â
