I only do it to see who's playing kids games like Transformers and Harry Potter, so I can automatically avoid them. Then I feel guilty, because they might just share an account with their children/nephews/grandchildren. But you can't be too careful, don't want to be mixing with the juniors when the horde is closing in and there's just a frying pan between you and the other side.
I do that a lot in game lobbies, and I use it to pick what team to be on. I know it doesn't tell me how good they are but I get a feel for how long they've had the game.
I have become an achievement addict. The one of the first things I do now when I turn on my xbox is to see if my friends have any new cheevos that I dont. Its kinda ridiculous, I know, but I wanna have atleast the same ones they do to.
