I don't understand why Bungie couldn't patch the Xbox version with the PC achievements. Halo and Halo 2 are the only Xbox that run 100% on the 360 without emulation problems so they could easily have gone that extra mile and patched the achivements into it. This would have been great during that period when Halo 2 was still the top played game on Live on the 360 untill Halo 3 and CoD4 came out.

No they won't do that because it would set a precedent - if they did it for one original xbox game, then why not another, and another, and eventually why not all of them. MS made the decision that no xbox original games will have achievements added to them, and reaffirmed that when they started offering xbox originals for download through Marketplace.
The reason the PC version had achievements added was because it was part of MS effort to get PC gamers into console games, and tie in the whole Gams For Windows LIVE thing.
