Does the halo edition of the xbox 360 really guarantee no ''red ring of death"?

And if it doesn't, is there ANY edition that is safe from breaking down?......because the last thing I want to do is spend hundreds of dollars on a system that's just going to last for a few days. :)

No. I just returned a Halo 360 that was an earlier version. It'd get pretty hot and was louder than my Falcon 360. I've read lot numbers 0734 for the Halo Edition and greater are Falcon chipped. I'm still actively looking and will snatch one up as soon as I find one.

If you're worried about overheating, the current "Go Pro" boxed 360s with 175w power bricks are on the shelves now so you might try one of those as well.

and do not open your console!... and also the cooling fans draw power from the 360.... which needless to say is a bad thing!

my halo edition had messed up video when I was playing mass effect 2. shows e74 now. reason I bumped.

friend had halo 3 360 got rrod in 6 months

Nope my I'm on my third 360, all my friends are on there second or thirds (some of them have halo 3 edition xbox's) and my sister is going on her second elite console because it also RROD'd. It doesn't really matter what console you have unless it was built with the new chips/power brick (Usually the arcade systems) but even then they still have a chance of getting the RROD.

I find it hard to believe some people are still on there first console! Hell I had my launch console for 2 years almost without a RROD but there is literally nobody I know who still has a launch console that hasn't rrod'd yet.
