Ive managed to get my hands on Blue Dragon to play for myself. Its a very good RPG thats quite similar to Dragon Quest. Id have to say its most defiantely a "AA" game.

hahahaha, oh burn! I don't know man, the negative comments I've heard about this game seem way more founded then the praise. Admittedly I have only played the demo but so much of it's sloppiness shows through that it's hard to take a 9.0 seriously at all. Plus, story and characters are important to me and I almost wanted to hurt my own party before the demo was over.
Yeah the demo was plain bad...keep in mind that I am not a very big JRPG fan, but still...it was bad. IGN only gave it a 7.7,and with all the hype that was surrounding it, it might as well have been below average.

ya, i actually read that egm review. They actually had mostly positive things to say about the game. Im not saying the game is classic, or even "AAA". But its certainly very good, solid "AA".

IGN gave it 7.9, but IGN also gave the Darkness a 7.7. Can we honeslty say that the Darkness wasnt "AA"?
it honestly never really occured to me that the heros were unlikable, i didnt really mind them and im sure they manage to flesh them out in 50 hours of game play.
the only thing i dont like is that it comes out one day after school starts(no all nighters playing it!)
I really wanted to like this game but the demo didnt impress me at all. I'd like to try it starting right from the beginining not just thrown in with a bunch of powers I dont understand.
I thought the demo was good, but I'm getting kind of sick of protagonists who are children. I don't think I'm going to pick this one up....DBZ pisses me off and that yellow thing is annoying as hell.
If it's like Dragon Quest VIII then I'm scared because I preordered Blue Dragon... And I wasn't very fond of Dragon Quest. Oh well, I'll find out myself and if anything else I can just beat it, get the achievments and trade it in if I don't like it.

If you dont like Dragon Quest VIII, you probably wont like Blue Dragon. I do find Blue Dragon a bit better than Dragon Quest VIII though, since Blue Dragon has no annoying random battles. Blue Dragon also has much better music and cutscenes.
