If you download your full games (such as Halo 3 and Fable 2) to your hard drive from their discs. Do you need the discs every time you have to play it? If so, what's the benefit of putting them on your hard drive?

You have to have the disc in the tray in order to play it, for piracy reasons. The benefits are your 360 running cooler, less noise, decreased load times with most games.

I heard that it fixes up your scratches in the sense that when you download the game to hard drive, the scratches on the disc dont matter. is this true??

Yeah this is true. I installed my copy of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 onto my hard drive because it kept freezing when I played from the disc due to a nasty scratch on the disc. It plays fine now and hasn't froze on me since I installed it.

Yes,as long as the 360 can recognize the game disc. And just for future reference, the term is be installing games, not downloading; unless you're talking about Games on Demand.

Halo 3 doesn't work o n the hard drive. You can still try it if you still want to. Yes, installing games to your hard drive does help alot of games.

Halo 3 DOES work on the hard drive. I have it installed and I have played through the entire game this way. I play multiplayer this way too without any problems. The only discs I haven't been able to install to my hard drive are the demo discs that come with my OXM magazines.

It CAN be installed, but it means longer loading times, due to the way data is already cached from the disc when playing it normally. Other than that, there are no problems with installing Halo 3 to the HDD. If you ask me, slightly longer loads are worth it to save strain on the disc drive and to keep the noise down.

Yes you need the disc in the drive, but it doesn't spin so there is much less noise and much less loading time. Also, if your disc is damaged installing it can 'fix' it.
