July 1st of 1991, Duke Nukem or Duke Nukum is released. A typic game for pc with a great story and a character that now in 2010 would be famous all over the world. Duke Nukum was a basic sidescroller that consisted in finding doors to pass the levels. The story was basedin the normal Hero Vs. Villian situation. Although old and basic I still play it very much because i haven't even finished it.Anyway, Duke Nukem 2 was released in December 3rd of 1993 for pc and despite it's good new things in weapon upgrades those where few compared to the bad new things in everything else. The objective, story and gameplay where very similar: Duke was fighting aliens after being kidnapped, to complete e level you had to reach the exit and it was a sidescroller which was almost everything back in 1993 so that doesn't count. This game had the annoying characteristic of Duke not being able to jump which made the game way longer.
January 20 of 1996, Duke Nukem 3D is out and for me it's the best Duke Nukem game ever. The 3D expierence made Duke even way better than it was before. But, you know every ying brings its yang and Duke 3D was not safe of this saying. Even with 3D graphics the story was repetitive and very knownand if you were killed you hadto start the level all over if you dind't save the game. Duke fighting the aliens again and making me start all over? I expected something new, but back then it didn't matter it was Duke Nukem the hero with the balls of steel.
Then a lot of Duke games for both Nintendo 64 and PS were released: Land Of The Babes, Duke 64, Zero Hour and Time to Kill. Despite Duke Nukem 3D sucess I was starting to think Duke was getting annoying and repetitive. LotB, Zero Hour and TimeTo Kill had the new feature of Duke in a 3rd person prospective rather than 1st person as in 3D.
Then the final drop came: Duke Nukem Manhattan Project. I hated that game so much. Duke got to the point of being repetitive to death. Duke against mad scientist and monsters. Come on 3D realms you can do better. But then an announcment caught everybody's eye: Duke Nukem Forever.
With a delay of 15 years they say this will be the best Duke Nukem game ever, but first they have to get over the legal problems of course. Anyway someone said: "This game will come in God's second visit to earth". But as i watched the gameplay I tought maybe this could be just another Duke game with the same old story about aliens and the same gameplay about shooting things and Duke saying random stuff. And so I think, is Duke Nukem Forever gonna be the best game ever or just a crappy game we waited for 15 long years? What do you think?
