Virtua Fighter 5 = fighting game perfection. Even if you're not a fan of fighters, this game boasts some of the most impressive visuals seen on a home console. Don't limit yourselves to other genres...give this game a try and you'll find one of the deepest games ever made.

"Anybody that tells you Virtua Fighter 5 is anything other than the best 3D fighter on the market is, quite simply, wrong. With its fluid and deeply personal combat and wonderfully varied cast, SEGA's latest brawler is an absolute triumph in every sense."

I bought it WAYYYY back when it came out on the PS3 and I really wanted to love it. Sadly I did not. I traded it months ago, give me Soul Calibur or Tekken.

I was thinking about it, since I've been a VF fan since it first appreared, but I dunno. I'll probably wait for awhile until it drops in price, because there's too many other games that I want right now. COD4 comes out next Wednesday!

Saying VF is fighting game perfection is like saying GT or Forza are racing game perfection. They're all highly technical, but definately do not appeal to everyone. Just like how there's PGR, NFS, and Burnout for those who have different tastes, there's Soul Calibur and Tekken, which more people are likely to turn to.

I disagree with the TCs suggestion for everyone to pick up this game. It truely is the best fighting series on the market... but it has too much depth for people who don't really get into fighting games. Button mashers will be turned off instantly as they won't be able to do much when they first pick the game up.

So while I agree it is the best fighting game available, I don't think it's for everyone.

If someone can shine some light on me with the Online mode, Does it have any lag like most fighters? I hear thats an almost impossible thing to get rid of with online fighters..

If there is lag, I dont know if ill get it. Fun game though, I liked the demo.

I plan on picking it up. I have really enjoyed the series so far, my biggest problem with the past games was that none of my friends liked it so I spent all my time playing against the AI, which while challening doesn't really offer the same satisfaction as playing against a real person.

If the online plays smoothly I could see myself spending a lot of time on this one.

If button mashing is the reason you don't like fighters, then this one may surprise you. Many games (Soul Caliber) allow button mashers to keep up with skillful players but this series absolutely punishes people who don't know what they are doing.

No. I hate fighting games, and believe me I have tried in the genre. Soul Calibur was one of the first games I got for my DC, and DOA4 was one of the first I got for my 360. I can see that they're both great games, but I hate them. I hate playing them, I can't be bothered to learn endless combos and frankly I get no enjoyment at all out of them. I can see why they appeal to some people, but even the great ones won't appeal to everyone.

It's like saying, "Every sports fan should support Manchester United." Well, I'm a rugby man, and even if I liked football I wouldn't support Man U, no matter how good they are.

Umm... doesn't Virtua Fighter flat out suck? I played the earlier games, then I played VF4... i laughed harder than hell at how bad the game was, then I tried the demo to VF5, you know, because I'm stupid.

Turns out the game is slow, clunky, overly-difficult to pull off SIMPLE things... like a punch combo. Oh, and it's really cheezy and arcadey. Not the good kind of Arcadey, the bad kind. Like the random low-res sparks that come out when you hit someone in Tekken kind of cheezy.

It's not the overly simple to perform awesome attacks cheezy though, like Soul Calibur... hell, none of the popular 3D fighting games out right now are any good. The only fighting games I ever liked were Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, and Marvelvs SF/Capcom. Oh, and Dead or Alive 2 and on. I like DOA for the free-form, fast paced, technique/combo driven gameplay. All the others feel either way too slow, way too difficult to do simple things, or way too easy to do overlypowerful things.

Man, give me Marvel vs Capcom 2, Guitly Gear X2, and DOA 4, and I have all the fighting games I'll ever need.
Maybe Street Fighter 4 when it comes out. So long as Capcom makes it good. They've been doing a lot of crap fighting games lately.

I'll be picking it up, Tomorrow. Though I prefer the faster pace fighting of DOA, Virtua Fighter is still good in it's own right.

Also the customizable feature and on-line modes really have me looking forward to playing it. According to Eurogamer the online mode runs much smoother then DOA 4, so I'm really hyped up for this game and honestly..... not enough fighting games these days, there one of my favorite genre's and there havent been any new sucesseful fighting franchised made in the last 10 years. I'll be really bumed out if VF, DOA, or Soul Calibur close up shop because of people just not being interested in the genre anymore.

I prefer Capcom's fighting games over Virtua Fighter. Hell, I much preferred Fighting Vipers over Virtua Fighter, and those used the same (base) engine. But the changes made for FV made that game so much more fun to play than VF ever was.

Not interested, won't be getting it and won't be trying it. Soulcalibur is my type of fighting game, maybe DOA5 if they stop making porceline faces.
