yes, with no problem, I just got my 320 GB Ext.HDD hooked up (to the socket in the back/ next to the internet cable). If you click my profile, and look at my banner, then you will notice that there is a black box on the left of the TV - that is the external HDD. N.B. I know that you have to format your extern. HDD in a particular way in order to get it to work, but most extern. HDD are formated in FAT 32 out-of-the-box, so you shouldn't have any problems plugging it in.lukasz_erecinskthanks alot for your help. I'm going to give it a shot today.
I have a crap load of movies, music and pictures on my external hardrive. I can't seem to stream anything from my pc to my 360, and i want to watch my movies on my 32"HDTV instead of my 17"monitor. Would it work if i hooked up my external hdd to my 360? Would i be able to watch all my movies and listen to all my music?hueypnewtonThere is a sata adaptor out that is supposed to make things like that work better, just make sure you can return it if it does not do what you want it to do. I saw it at best buy in the 360 department for $30.
i thought you just had to put the movie you want to stream into a sertain fromat cuz the 360 can only read a sertain one and thats why you can't play them cuz it can't see them but im not 100% sure on this onekevster29Dude, the word is CERTAIN, and you should work on your punctuation - it is terribly difficult to understand what you are writing.

There is one limitation to connecting a external HD straight to the back of the 360 rather than your PC. When connected to the back of the 360 it will sort the music and video only by the file name. So if you got alot of music and video it might make it hard to find what you are looking for. Connecting that external HD to a PC connected on the same network as the 360 will stream the music and video to the 360 and will sort it by artist, genre, song title, or album. You will even be able to set up play lists on your PC and then stream that playlist to the 360. So you can fire up a game, hit the guide button, go down to music and select one of your custom playlists. If you have anything more than a couple hundred songs I'd use a PC and stream it to the 360.WillT12345
