Fable II Wins G4TV's GOTY - Nay or Yay?

Nay! NAYNAY NAY NAY!

Fallout 3 was pretty damn good, probably better than Fable 2 in lasting appeal, but I enjoyed my first time playthrough of Fable tons more than Fallout 3 which convinces me that Fallout 3 should not be chosen, nominated maybe. If it was up to me I would actually choose Rock Band 2 since music is practically my life (quite literally), but being realistic I still stick with my choice of Metal Gear Solid 4, overall the best story telling with a decent multiplayer.

can someone explaint to me what's so great about fable 2?

the combat system suck and lack any depth. you know the combat system is terrible when the only way to add difficulty is to thrown in endless waves of enemies.

the story suck and it was short.

making money was easy. just buy property and take a nap, wake up and turn on your xbox. all the jobs in the games was the basically the same game with a twist for each one.

nothing in the world changes except for old bowerstone. THATS IT, PM sure know how to exagerate

if you're too good, civilian will harass you and annoy the **** out of you by stalking you everywhere.

you interact with npc through expression.

all the quest sucks. basically go from point a to point b and kill anything in your way. no puzzle. just kill. did i mention that the combat suck?

fable two was complete utter garbage. i will never puchase a game again from lionhead or any game with peter moly as the creative director.

haha that sucks. MGS 4 should of been game of the year. I havent played it yet but it was the only game that really stood out this year.

GTA 4 was good, but it seemed like a chore over time.

PURE is very fun, but no way near the game of the year.

But, another question should be asked.

which console should be game of the year?

I find their choice of Fable II to be surprising, given the number of A+ titles this year. I have yet to get my hands on a copy (too many other purchases to make!) but the culmulative reviews weren't overwhelming enough to make me think GOTY. I personally would have thought Guns of the Patriots was a lock because it is the culmination of a long-running, beloved franchise (kind of like, how the Oscars waited to recognize the Lord of the Rings until after the third film).

I can see how it will win some votes though, because the other strong candidates all have some flaws themselves:
Metal Gear & GTAIV were love it or hate it games, even among long-time fans
Gears 2 suffers from being the middle chapter in an announced trilogy
Fallout 3 was too big, too ambitious, and too clunky for some
Crisis Core, Chains of Olympus, & The World Ends With You were too portable
Smash Bros is too campy
Dead Space lacked the necessary, pre-launch hype
And most of the rest of the games were too disappointing.

In the end this year is wide open, though I'll vote for MGS4. :)Senor_T_Dub

Well put Senor. Though Fallout 3 and GTA IV are my personal GsOTY, their flaws are undeniable, as are the flaws of every game released this year. But since so many of those games were really good, it's hard to say which should absolutely come out on top. While there are some obvious category-related honors that can be given based on popular opinion (RPG = Fallout 3, Action/Adventure = GTA IV, Puzzle/Music = Rock Band 2, et cetera), giving an overall award has got to be a tough cookie for people like G4, and while I disagree with their GOTY nomination, I can't flame them for it 'cause it was an unarguably valid choice. It'll be interesting to see what GameSpot and IGN decide.

Don't get me wrong, Fable 2 is a great game. I love it. But I think others deserve it more. Like MGS4, Fallout 3, Maybe Gears 2.

But I don't dissagree...I also dont agree either. :P

I'm glad Fable 2 wont GOTY somewhere because there is stiff competition out here and most likely these same games will be GOTY different sites.

I love how everyone says it's amazing but not GOTY material explain that lol. Anyway I haven't played it yet cause I heard it was to easy but I may play it one of these days. Also as much as I like AOTS er well Olivia Munn at least G4 is far from the be all end all of gaming opinions there more specialized in variety shows now then games anyway.

It had all the elements of a great game, but it didn't implement them well enough, maybe if it was longer as well.

So Fable II has won the G4TV's Game of the Year. What are your feelings on this? Do you agree with G4?

I personally haven't played it yet, but it looks great.
