I have played the beginning of fallout 3 and fallout new vegas and desided i didnt like the games, but I love the elderscroll games. Im wondering if maybe im not giving the games enough time to get started. Also, Are there alot of side stories in these games? Ive never liked the main story in the elderscroll games but ive spent tons of time doing side quests such as the thieves guild and dark brotherhood.

yes there are side quests, it does start out a bit slow, the DLC adds a lot, in my opinion fallout 3 is better than oblivion...i didnt like NV that much though...and if you have the option, go PC mods make the game

This. FO3 was more fun to me, but FO:NV was a better RPG imo.

It could be the setting. I know plenty of people who love Fallout but don't like The Elder Scrolls, and vice versa. There are tons of side quests though in both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, maybe give it some more time but if it's still not happening then no harm, you just don't dig them.

Fallout3 starts VERY slow, but it gets really good, especially near the end. It has a LOT of optional side quests, so you gotta be sure to make lots of game saves and do side quests before you beat it. I personally prefer it over Oblivion. I hope to get New Vegas soon, but I havent had time to start another Fallout game.

I had the unlucky fortune of playing Fallout 3 - at launch - on the PS3. It regretted it simply because it became unplayable for me due to how many bugs it had (it was insane!). But now I am wondering if I should find it for cheap or something, and finally play it. I was a huge fan of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel on the PC (I wish they'd honestly bring that back, it would still work even on consoles ya know!).

And for everyone else, I totally love Skyrim. I didn't play Oblivion all that much, simply because it got far too repetitive for my taste. It seems like Bethesda really knows what they're doing though!

you should totally rent or pick up a copy of Fallout3 cheap. It's a great game, and with the patches it has VERY few bugs. I have wasted SO much time in that game. The trick is just to SAVE FREQUENTLY. If i ever have a bug, i just reload the previous gamesave.

Yes GOTY is great. I love Oblivion, still play it along with Skyrim. I also enjoyed Fallout 3 much more than New Vegas. However New Vegas has a different feel to it. For me I enjoyed New Vegas because of the Hardcore mode, which puts the game in an ultra-realistic mode. (Its a fun challenge thats different) In my mind the Elder Scrolls were always more enjoyable.

new vegas was just like an expansion for fallout 3 to me, a very good expansion though.
