I've got 1600 MSP with me now and I wanted to buy some Fallout 3 DLC. Seeing as I can only afford 2, I'm planning on getting Broken Steel and The Pitt (unless anyone can convince me otherwise). The thing is, I heard The Pitt and Operation Anchorage are only playable before the main storyline ends and I'm currently just before starting the last mission. So does this mean that if I plan on getting Operation Anchorage (or any FO3 DLC that can only be played before the main storyline ends) in the future that I will have to stall at the last mission till I finish them (because I don't want to restart)?

Also, does Broken Steel's 30 level cap take place immediately after downloading it, and will it allow for play after the main storyline ends?

Thanks a million. Btw, no spoilers please!

Once you've downloaded Broken Steel the level cap instantley rises to 30 and the game no longer ends (even if your using a saved game created before the purchase.).

As for not being able to play the DLC after the main quest, I pretty sure your still able to play them. You should be safe with buying both and not having a problem.

I have fallowed the Fallout 3 DLC very closely. As of what is out right now Broken Stell and the Pitt are the best for your money, but if you don't have a problem waiting Point Lookout and Broken Steel are your best bet. And also in the future a big addition to Fallout 3 is New Vegas which is almost like a completely new game.

Fallout New Vegas is going to be a completely new Fallout game that isn't even being developed by Bethesda.

As for DLC, The Pitt and OA arent worth 10 bucks, but if you have to choose one, go with the pitt.

New Vegas is a completely new game.

Anyway, I'd go with Broken Steel (it raises the level cap and changes the ending to allow you to continue playing the story) and wait for Point Lookout, which looks amazing. If you don't want to wait for Point Lookout though, I'd get The Pitt.

OK thanks. In that case I think I'll get Broken Steel, and then wait and see if Point Lookout is any good.

Oh, and just to confirm this, will I be able to play OA and The Pitt if I get them later on without restarting after finishing the main quest?

Yeah that's what I think too. So can anyone confirm whether or not I will be able to play The Pitt, OA and Point Lookout after finishing the (pre-DLC) storyline? Because so far to my knowledge Broken Steel is the only DLC playable after the original storyline finishes (don't know this first hand, just some wiki-ing)

Untrue. Broken Steel, however, is the only DLC to have the requirement that you beat the game beforehand. Even if you complete Broken Steel, you'll still be able to do Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt.

How do people not like OA? It was about the same length as the Pitt, unless you were going for 100 ingots and the gear you get from OA is WAY better. I thought OA was better and the Pitt had a better story but was less exciting.

I'm hanging on to my copy of Fallout 3 for Point Lookout and the eventual alien spaceship they're coming out with.

I thought the Pitt sucked personally. And Operation Anchorage is worth it if only for the gear. T-51b armour, Chinese Stealth armour, Gauss rifle, Shocksword.. awesome.

I wouldn't say that the Pitt sucked (whole family is from Pittsburgh so it was crazy to see) because it had some decent gear and was a pretty good story, where OA had little to no story. But I liked the fact that OA gave you a lot of good stuff at the end and kept you moving through the whole time instead of having you search in circles for stupid collectable ingots the whole time.

I would agree with you on that. It got boring and annoying, the first part especially and once you got past the infamous ingot part that I keep referencing, the rest of the DLC was pretty quick. I mean if you really weren't trying to get everything and get all of them (which is TOUGH if you don't know what you're doing) it would take significantly less time to beat. OA just kept you moving and provided content consistently, not just a treasure hunt quest

Thanks for answering my question. I guess I'll eventually get all the DLC but I'll get BS and PL first. Can this topic be closed now?
