Whats the deal with the enclave tesla power armour?

besides the attributes it gives you, dose it protect you more cos of the shield around you or what.

cos i hav found power armour with better boosts (eg +20 small guns, -10 charisma) but the its the shield that you can see around you thats got me

It looks hardcore and gives a boost to energy weapons.

I was walking by Fort Constantine with Charon (the slave you can buy in the Ghoul City) and came across a lone Enclave soldier so we took him down and I put his armor in Charon's equipment and now he uses it and he looks badass. As for myself I usually use the Ranger armor but if I could find it again I want to get the prototype Medical Power Armor which talks and administers med-x on you automatically.

Meh the armor in the dlc is a ton better. Though the telsa power armor looks pretty sweet.
