Dont listen to these Darkness fanboys TC, i've been playing games since DOOM and i know what a good FPS is, i also recommed you to play Condemned 1 and 2, they're good games of the same developer of F.E.A.R.great_rulo

Others have a differnt opinion then you and you call them FANBOYS???

Give me a break.. and who cares that youve been playing videogames since Doom, ive been playing abotu 10 years longer then that.

Everyone has differnt opinions, so why dont you treat them as that... opinions.

Id go for The Darkness, because it has a better story, funner combat, and its pretty cool, just the basis is cool. FEAR wasnt too good for me, never got into it. But i recommend ditching them both and getting BioShock, its immersive, and just so amazing. You will love it, seriously, but that it has much more replayability.

I'd say FEAR, but it does get a little repetitive, especially those damn office levels

FEAR is awful. It's very bland, generic and there are about 3 things you fight in the whole game. The plot is pretty much "Get this guy, oh look he vanished and is now in another identical building! Quick! He just vanished again and is now in a 3rd identical building! ect ect"
The AI is good and the guns are fun to use but it just drags in too much and in the end you don't care about the shooting. I forced myself to finish it because I heard it had an amazing ending...it did not.

The darkness I wasn't expecting a lot from but it is extremely good. One of the best games this gen in my opinion. The gameplay is fairly normal but the darkness powers are great fun, the voice acting is awesome and it has the best story I've seen in a long long time. It's one of the few games I've gotten sad from.

wow i wasn't expecting to get this much response, much appreciated, thanks to everyone who shared their opinions. The Darkness seems like the better game for now, im really liking the style of the graphics and the gameplay looks really fun, and from what's been said it has the better story as well.

If you can play on PC, get FEAR. If you're adament about playing it on 360, get The Darkness. FEAR just doesnt feel right on the 360 for some reason, which is weird because I can usually settle with shooters quite well on the 360 pad.diablobasher

Agreed, I had the same problem with playing FEAR on my 360, it just didn't feel right. If you can get it on the PC though I think it had some of the best gun battles I have seen in any shooter.
