I said my rant was over but.. I paid $140 for it to fix it. They could easily fix it. Oh well, they are losing money because I cant buy anymore games now. wookieeassassin

Yeah, I'm sure Microsoft will whine and scream now that you're not their costumer.

while they might not care as I am only one person I still have the satisfaction of not doing business with them. If you screw enough people you just might get into trouble.

I feel like everyone that has been blasting the person that posted this should realize not everyone has the extra money laying around to fix something that should last for years in the first place. The thing was already out of warrenty so if he could fix the thing and save paying MS $140.00 for maybe a $20.00 patch that will just get the thing going for a few months why not try. Another reason I will never own one of these consoles I enjoy my reliable console far to much.

Yeah, but why are you blaming Microsoft for all of that? Sure, I guess they maybe could've fixed it. But you did do something that voided their policy.

So first off, I got an Xbox 360 in November 2005. I got the 3 red lights about 2 months out of warranty (warranty being a year) . When I heard I had to pay $140 to get it fixed (I was out of warranty anyway so what do they care) I decided to search the web and try to fix it myself to save a whopping $140. I got a torx driver and opened it up and tried the eraser fix (putting erasers on the GPU RAM so that they would stay in place.. that is if they were poorly soldered, shame that was not my issue) That did not work and so I sent it in and paid $140 to have it fixed. They take a week to get the box to me and another 2 weeks to just send me back the same broken xbox with a nice little note that said that since I had opened it I had tampered with it and they refused to fix it. Then they said they would get my $140 ack to me in 4 business weeks. EXCUSE ME? You aren't going to fix it because I opened it?! I PAID $140 FOR IT AND FOR SOMETHING THAT COSTS $400 IN THE FIRST PLACE I BETTER HAVE MORE THAN A 1 YEAR WARRANTY. AND IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO FIX IT YOU BETTER HAVE MY MONEY BACK IN LESS THAN A MONTH!! Forget you Microsoft, I can live without the cheaply/poorly made Xbox 360. Shame I cant play Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed now, but you know what? MS wil never get any more money from me, EVER. wookieeassassin

I dont care for xbox live anyway. $50 a year isn't too much but when there isn't anything good to play online that is a problem. I prefer pc games mainly. It is just that I want to play mass effect and assassin's creed. I might be able to play AC on the pc as I think it is coming out for the PC (although I do not know for sure, and if it does I do not know how the controls will be i.e. will it use the x360 controller well) but Mass Effect just won't be played at all I guess, that is unless I rent the console for a couple weeks. If those were the only games I wanted to play I would simply just rent the console for a couple weeks, but I have guitar hero II sitting in here and with no xbox 360 it is useless. And even the cost of retning the 360 for a week is ~$30.

Mass Effect will take at least 2 weeks to finish if not more and Assassins Creed at least a week. That is ~$120 to beat 2 games, which I guess isn't too bad as it would be $120 if I bought them. Also, I don't have any friends that own a xbox 360 except for one and as often as I see him it would take months to finish those games. I don't know what to do really.

Wow, I'm sorry, but your an idiot. You should know that if you tamper with anything the warrenty is void.

The reasons they won't fix it and why it doesn;t matter if you opened it after your warranty expired are the following:

1) They have no idea when you opened it. You said it wasn't until after the warranty was done but they do not know that you are telling the truth.

2) when you opened it they have no way of really knowing what other damage YOU may have caused that may have caused wear and tear on other parts leading to them failing quicker then they should. I.E. with another 1 year warranty your box could die in a few months partly or fully due to something YOU did when you opened it up. They of course will not cover that.

3) you may open it up again now that the seals so to speak have been tampered with and they will not know. They of course do not want to warranty something that can be tampered with. For all they know you'll open it up with a week left in your warranty and break something just to get a replacement console.

Face it. This has nothing to do with Microsoft and all to do with your own lapse in judgement.
