Gears of War- Let down?

yea gears of war sux it should just be called active reload shotguns. worst game everslicnick

the only people that say gears of war is a letdown are people that suck at it!! either they get too pissed off because there bodies are blowing up everywhere because of shotguns or getting there heads poped by snipers

There's no possible way that anybody who appreciates games would think that GOw was a let down. This game has it all, the only flaw is it's a little short if you play it on the easiest skill level, but come to think about it, isn't everygame on an easy skill level short? This game has amazing graphics, gameplay, controlling, replay value and especially online..

You're right, they will ask the same question about Halo 3. But I find that the combatis too repetitive, and not enough of a challenge. And, until the recent addition of annex, I found multiplayer lacking.Phantomwedge

Dont make generalizations because you obviously know nothing. I honestly do not feel Gears of War takes skills, maybe because im just naturally gifted in all shooting games(not trying to sound cocky) but I play this game maybe once or twice a week, lately I've been achievement boosting but thats about it.Oh and the new and improved lancer. Btw am I the only one that like that? Before it was just shotgun wars now everyone complains that the lancer is way to strong. Um, has anyone heard of adjusting your strategy? Thats why Epic included the cover system, now that it is being implied everyone complains just because they're used to roadie running. Now when they roadie run at me and I down them with the lancer, I have to hear everyone complain about how it messes up the game.

I have a love-hate relationship with Gears....it is a fun game, and I like playing online. However it is completely unbalanced, and a lot of a-hole jerks play online. I hate playing against a clan, that practices together for 8 hours a day,make sweet love to each other and basically have no life other then Gears. Then you play against them with three random people and they make fun of you for not beating them. It brings great joy to me though when someone will tell you "Dont quit" at the beginning of the match, and your team ends up kicking their as$. (That is if the random people you are playing with happen to be somewhat ok at the game)

I wish the single player was a lot longer too. It is kind of a rip off to beat it in less then 12 hours on insane.

People who are let down by Gears of War will not be impressed by any videogame.....ever, or just like to find flaws in everything.

Gears of war lived up to and exceeded the hype. I was never so excited to play a game in my life more then Gears and when I got it I was anything but letdown. Gears is going to be a classic in the future and will probably end up in Gamespots greatest games of all time category down the road.

Not what I was hearing last night..all I heard was "DUDE WTF THE F**KIN LANCER IS F**KIN UP GEARS MAN" and then a few said "WTF THE SHOTGUN IS POINTLESS NOW" when infact is it not, if people actually used something called strategy, they would know how and when to use weapons. I'm actually starting to love Gears now(almost a year later, quite sad dont you think?) because its not just "Press left in your control pad, hold A and randomly press or hold RT til your opponent drops.

These are all opinions, but the fact is that its sold more than anygame to date for the 360. On the other hand not everyone likes it and its up to you to chose if you like it or not (your opinion).

Yeah, I found Gears was a big let down.
The combat got pretty repetetive pretty quickly.

Haven't played a lot of the multi-player since I didn't like it.

It's OK though, but I don't understand how so many people can say it's one of the best games on the 360.

anyways, to be naturally gifted at... pushing buttons, it's not really a great achievement is it?

heck, one can put it in a resume and apply for a "pushing buttons job".

Gears graphics were way beyond my expectations. But the take-cover / take-potshots gameplay mechanic just isn't all that much fun. I like running in and blasting everything in sight, AND i like hiding somewhere and sniping fools too. But there isn't much opportunity to do either of those things in Gears single-player.

Haven't played much Gears multiplayer because after only a few rounds it seemed boring.

i loved the single player and the coop but hated the multiplayer. IMO having one life and having to wait till the end of the round to respawn is the dumbest thing ever. Way too slow paced considering its only 4v4.

Annexe is fun because of the respawns but then again its only king of the hill... which i dont really enjoy. If the game had respawns in every mode and if they added CTF or assault it would be my favourite game.

Rent games more often. Kids games, sports games and rpgs are all really easy to get gamerscore with.

lol i think that way too. You see enemies, hide behind a wall and shoot. Get back into cover if that red circle appears too much on your screen. The single player is still really fun though. It's just the multiplayer i think sucks.

I used to think it was fun, but now there's too many little kids, cheaters, little wannabe gangster kids, and racists playing it.

Here's what I think, Gears is only fun if you play with your friends. The online and offline co-op is fantastic and I wish more games offered that. Online, I can't play it unless I'm playing with at least one person that I really know otherwise its just boring and barely anybody talks or strategizes. Single player is alright but not nearly as fun as co-op.

Let down? Definately not in the story mode aspects. Competetive multiplayer? Alittle bit.

Didn't even pay attention to the hype. Bought it when I watched the video review and it seemed cool enough.

I liked the single player well enough... a little easy and far too short, but I liked it.

I hate the multiplayer. It's repetitive and full of kids and glitchers. I really did try to like it, but I just couldn't. Give me Rainbow Six over this ANY day.

That being said, Gears is alright. Will I buy the sequel? Probably not, but I don't think it's the worst game ever either.

i use to luve the game and non stop played it. however i think active reloads ruin the game ive never seen a game that incurages you to waste ammo so u can have stronger bullets? sweet game

NO! Gears of War was not a let down. Is it a little overrated at 9.6? Yeah...I think so, but there is no denying that this game has the best co-op online experience of any game ever made. I have never had so much fun playing co-op with people when I first got this game. As with all shooters, they get boring after a while. Don't most games?

The game has its flaws, but what it boils down to is FUN. The game is fun. It is over-the-top. I LOVE the chainsaw bayonet idea. It never gets old for me. I think it is the best Xbox 360 game out right now.

I'm a little late getting Gears and I'm only just starting the 3rd act but so far, it's one of the best shooters I've ever played. It has great atmosphere and great game play. I'm not a huge shooter fan but certain ones are just so fun to play. Gears isso well done that it's quality just reaches out and slaps me in the face.

It just goes to show one reason why PC gamers love PC gaming with greatdevelopers like Epic, Bioware, Bungie and Blizzard(just to name a few) making high quality games over the years.

Personally, I think Halo 3 will have a lot to live up to after having played Gears...
