Gears of War or Call of Duty 3 for multiplayer?

Okay I just purchased my xbox 360 yesterday and I need a game until DIRT comes. And of course, i have a free month of Gold membership and I intend to use this for multiplayer. So my question is, COD 3 or Gears of War? I've never played COD 3 but I have played COD 1 and 2. Gears of War, well I have played Single player and with my brother co-op 3 times through the game, but never online..

Got no clue on which to get:?

I'm so addicted to Gears of War, I have played it for at least 2 hours every day since I bought it on January 12th

COD3 all the way.... full on battles with 16( i think) or 24 players online... gears of war 4 on 4 and gets very boring after about 20 mintues online

well gears multiplayer i kinda fun but only when your playing with friends while cod 3 never really gets boring

As stated, Gears of War with friends online is great, 4v4 isn't bad, but it is obviously nowhere near the scale of 24 or 12v12 as with CoD3. They're both great. For now though, I'd say...toss up. HA.

I have heard that Gears of war only has a few different game modes, not sure about CoD 3, still haven't opened it yet.

it has deathmatch, team deathmatch, ctf, and war theres maybe more but that was off the top of my head you will probaply play war the most wowo that mode is good

It depends. If you like being able to respawn and fast paced multiplayer, go for COD3. If you prefer a slower shooter thats pretty intense, and you only have life per round (in Gears, thats a good thing) gor for gow.

Cod3 sucks ballz no matter what mode you play imo, the game was made by different devs and it its way diff, besides gears online rocks imo of course.. it has its glitches and some are big but if you adap its wicked fun

If you've played CoD 1 and 2, 3 might be worth a try. But it's basically the same style of play with a few upgrades. It's actually quite a good deal of fun online, but still, it's nothing really different.

Gears is also pretty good, but what experience I've had when I tried online out at my friend's place made me want to stick with LAN instead.

IMUCH prefer Gears. COD2 and 3 just seem too generic and bland to me. COD4 on the other hand......

Gears was a let down for me, seems like the sorta game you should be running between cover shooting when poss, having shoot offs, tactical gameplay. Instead everyone just runs with shotguns and charges for the snipers liek yeah!!11111

I'd personally go with COD 3, you have a lot of soldier options, and it's tons of fun to call in an artillery strike on your friends

also the shotgun is really annoying in GOW, cuz everytime im right up close to a guy and fire he never splits in half, like he should

I think GeoW multiplayer is very bad, so it defaults to COD.
