I think I remember reading this somewhere but I'm not 100% sure. Seeing as their are no games of interest to me coming out this summer, I am currently going through my games and beating the ones I haven't beat yet. I started playing The Orange Box again tonight and had to stop because I got extremely dizzy. Even now, an hour after, I am still feeling the effects. Anyone else have this problem?

No but on the instruction manual it says if you experience dizziness discontinue playing the game. Theres probably some lighting/flashing in the game that makes some people dizzy or worse it can cause seizures. I suggest you stay away from it.

Yep, the frame rate is not that good on that game, no wonder, it's a port from the PC so yes I noticed it especially through some repetitive boring missions to be completely honest. Portal is by far the better game on that disc.

Yea I have the same problem. I only get it from older FPS games like the original Doom. It's almost like a motion sickness from the cheesey animation. (Not that older FPS games are bad)

Yes I know exactly what you mean. It happened with me for the first Half-Life, which I couldn't beat because of it, so I bought the Orange Box hoping it wouldn't happen again. But whenever I play it, I feel extremely bad, like my head is swelling, and all I want to do is have a cold shower and cool down. I've looked into this, and it is due to the fact that the Field of View in the Half-Life games is 75 degrees instead of the usual 90 degrees. I don't know why the developers chose to do this, because even though it is very subtle, it is disorienting due to the fact that it causes a sort of tunnel vision.

Half-Life can make you pretty dizzy. Portal is a much better game anyway, play that.

It doesn't make me dizzy at all, and I played HL2 Episode 1 & 2 in one sitting each. I have heard that it makes others dizzy though...

My cousin says it makes him dizzy....

I don't get it, what's in OB that makes people dizzy? Is it the graphics or framerate? I'm just glad I don't get that feeling.

Portal can really mess you up. Making a constant portal, jumping in it, and trying to focus on one spot as you keep falling in repeat...Yikes.

it doesn't make me dizzy but it has a different viewing angle than other games. i believe most games are 90 degrees whereas this one is 80 but don't quote me on that. something to the effect of covering a different amount of degrees from stretching/compressing the image on the sides. i don't know.

I got motion sick play through Morrowind on the original Xbox. It bummed me out, because I really wanted to play that game. The best advice is to either take more frequent breaks or just play another game. :(

I used to feel a little disoriented after playing T.O.B. as well, especially Half-Life 2.

Funny I did a thread like this long time ago about the orange box :D Here's the link to it with a poll if you're interested with what others said. I guess it's what the posters here mentioned that causes it...the "field view" or "motion blur" of the game. I know it's only with Orange box because I never felt it while playing GRAW, RSV, GoW and CoD4.

Half Life 2 (PC) makes me dizzy aswell as CoD4 on 360 sometimes. Some other games I can remember making me dizzy were Hitman (PC), Medal of Honour (PS1), and I think Perfect Dark (N64). I dunno why only some games make me dizzy and others I can play just fine.
