Since Xbox has released their new interface platform with the ability to install games onto harddrives, games like the Last Remnant that did have trouble running on the system, after installed on the Hard Drive recieved Signifigantly less to no framerate problems whatsoever, all load times are 3 times shorter and makes the game bearable. People need to know this, it is an amazing game with an amazing Plot with little fix's most have looked over due to lack of interest.

Each disc does need to be installed, so you do need at least a 20gb HD. Although they don't need to be installed at the same time, after the first disc is done you can delete and replace with disc 2

Definitely worth a look now that you can install it to the harddrive. The game has good gameplay, a solid story which is not overloaded with Jrpg cliches, and excellent art direction. Read the PC review and you can get an idea of what Last Remnant is like when installed on the HDD.

Actually I didn't mind the frame rates or loading times, my biggest issue with game is that it felt somewhat broken. Decent enough game but could have been much better...I have to say not to SPOILER!! but the ending was crap after all you had to go through in that game. The game is very strange as well, there is no real level system but your characters get stronger after battles...the game has no direction really, you could just go and do side missions or you could just fight a lot and go through the main story fairly easy. I just feel this game was only 3/4 finished by the Devs.

i have bought this recently and have a question about HD installation. I only have the 20GB drive so chances are I will only be able to install one disc (maybe 2).

How is the disc swapping in the game. Is it pretty much a fair chunk on disc 1 - then moves to disc 2. Or is there multiple swapping

The only reason I ask is that could I get away with installing disc 1, then when the game moves to disc 2 , remove disc 1 and then install disc 2 etc

I might try it when the price is drastically dropped (19.99 - 29.99). Looks interesting.

I installed the discs one at a time and never had to swap.

You'll have to install the second disc too, though.

I'm enjoying it right now with it installed in my hard drive and even though there are some frame rate issues they're definitely not near as many as before installing it. The only thing that bugs me about the game is that characters grow stronger after fights, but they have weird stats like "Love", "Management", "Bravery", "Leadership" and such. I have no idea what they do. Other than that I'm thoroughly enjoying the game.

I've been thinking about giving it a shot. One of my friends plays it constantly.

no matter how much they try and fix the load times and the lag it makes no difference. The story is still weak and the gameplay is very slow paced trading this in at the best convience .

The Last Remnant isn't "amazing" in any way. It's an average RPG that isn't anything special.

I've been thinking about getting it, I'm just worried that all the people talking about how great it runs after being installed are exaggerating and the game will still run poorly.

It's true that the installation will make the game run a lot smoother. The slowdown isn't that bad at all.

The gameplay however is horribly broken and frustrating to no end, but it's still a decent game. It's an enjoyable game, but just one that angers you from time to time because it's so broken in places.

Does the install suddenly make the game interesting and the combat bareable?

Didn't think so.

I got sick of team members deciding what move to use when attacking, if they can "reassess"the situation in combat how come they never "reassessed" that they needed to do a physical attack when they were prohibited from using a mystical one?

Yes it makes the game more interesting and bareable, before the install I would have lag spikes on every critical strike, which was completely eliminated. If your team isn't working out, theres one simple solution for you idiots, change your god damn group makeup. I'm not quite finnished the game and I have had little to no problems with any of my groups. The game as far as i'm concerned is abit easy. Your just mentally handicapped.

I installed the game before playing it off the DVD and I had no problems with it at all. I have put 20 or so hours into playing off the harddrive, think the game is great. Last night, I played it on my second 360 reading off the DVD NOT the harddrive and I have to say that there really wasn't much of a problem. In fact, I was really surprised how smooth it ran and was thinking people were exaggerating the whole thing. The load times are definitiley longer but the dropping framerate problem I didn't notice and I was in medium sized battles (about 20 enemies, 2 unions).

It's too bad this game gets the reputation of being broken because it really isn't. If you install to the harddrive all technical issues are gone, play it from the DVD and technical issues are small, so small I don't even think they are worth mentioning.

If you like RPGs, this is a good one for the collection. It is long, the battles are fun, the side quests are cool (some can be annoying), and the story is decent. But, the achievements are somewhat hard so keep that in mind if you are an achievement junkie.

I don't know what kind of 360 you have but when I first bought the game the Framerate was so bad that I literlly stopped playing, only until i recently installed onto my HD did I realize that this is a fun and innovative game that really needed a second chance to show what it's capable of

Framerate on what? Battles? Like I said, I was battling 20 enemies at a time last night and there weren't any problems. I am not saying it runs as smooth as if it were off the harddrive but it isn't so bad that it's unplayable.
