GOTY Predictions

Why cant we nominate ODST? it is close enough to a stand alone game... Thats like saying Crysis warhead could not have won GOTY because it is an expansion (it is but it is stand alone like ODST is and therefore considered its own game). Correct me if i am wrong. Also if ODST cannot be nominated Grand Theft Auto liberty city stories cannot be either. It is an expansion as well.

Aren't expansions not allowed to be nominated i'm saying? So, if thats true. its 100% chance ODST won't be selected.. so ODST wouldn't be allowed, because it would be as pointless as picking a game from 07

Wait, why can't we nominate ODST? I didn't read anyone saying we can't nominate ODST. Hell, it'll probably end up being my 360 GotY for this year on GS's list (though my actual one would be BlazBlue and the best game I've played all year is probably Mass Effect), but keeping with the 2009 theme, I do believe we are allowed to nominate ODST as I'm sure GS will as well.

I actually doubt Dragon Age will be nominated on 360 (or even PS3), but only for PC when that comes along. I'm just throwing that out there, I know you didn't make mention of it. :P

I think GS will nominate ODST for 360 GotY. No guarantee, but if you are right and it is considered an expansion than maybe it won't. But I do believe most people consider it a stand-alone game. At least, I do.

But if you read my post a bit back, it has the same features of an expansion. Including half of the game is from halo 3, the title is halo 3 - ODST

The only new thing is a campaign. and a new mode. But the multiplayer and the rest of the game is from halo 3, which would mean the game is an expansion.

And I heard before that expansions can't be nominated. I'd google this but i'm going to bed in a few seconds. but if you think about it for a bit, it can hardly be seen as a standalone game.. imo.

I can honeslty say modern warfare 2 so far but I still have to play Assassins creed 2 when it comes out and then I will make my decision

Uncharted 2 should win GOTY in my opinion. Haven't played Demons Souls or Dragon Age yet, but I can't imagine them being a better overall package than Uncharted 2.

1. Uncharted 2: Among Theives- Unbelieveable story, graphics, and gameplay. Memorable characters and some of the best animation work I've ever seen. THEN add in a fantastic multiplayer suite...Yes ladies and gentlemen, the bar has been raised and in my opinion, nobody else even comes close.

2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2- Simply brilliant. A game that will last many people years...only reason why it doesn't deserve GOTY in my opinion is because it doesn't significantly raise the bar that CoD4 set, 2 years ago.

3. MLB 09: The Show- Can't believe I'm nominating a sports game, but this game was WAY better than I ever expected. Best sports game I've ever played.

Honorable Mention: inFamous, Killzone 2, Halo 3: ODST, Batman: Arkham Asylum

No, I understand where you're coming from with your logic on it. I just don't know if GS considers it an expansion or not, but I guess we'll have to wait another month until December to find out. I do know that they have a seperate expansion category so perhaps Halo 3 ODST and GTAIV Episodes from Liberty City will make it there. But I don't know if they consider ODST an expansion, even with your reasoning, which is pretty good. I guess we'll have to wait and see on ODST.

My personal PS3 GOTY is definitely Ratchet and Clank: ACIT. It's just so awesome in every way, but it won't win because of the score.

The realistic answer is probably Uncharted 2, but I'd want Batman to win. Batman was awesome and one hell of a game. If R+C can't win, I'd vote for Batman in a heartbeat.

GOTY for this year will be a hard one. For me its a tie between Borderlands and Dragon Age Origins. Mw2 was great but not did not do much to impress me.

Lots of people think games win because of hype.. But that's not true at all.. cause I've heard a few people say mw2 cause of hype..

I still have a feeling its going to lose.. and even though i haven't really stated my list. I'd say borderlands. but it proably won't win cause lack of story and depth.

MW2, the games not perfect, but I do indeed love the game, but there proably gonna shock us on this one.

Batman AA - Never thought of this until someone said it, the game was amazing then people just stopped talking about it, I think it will be arunner up.

I don't hear anyone talking about UFC, I think this was a really well put together fighting game..

Dragon age: origins.. I think has a really good chance, but because its a bit poor on xbox 360. Might lose its position. Hmmmm.. When is all this announced I forgot the date.

also. Never played forza 3, but I'm sure its GOTY for racing. Has a good chance to also be GOTY. and I beat uncharted 1, No doubt that uncharted 2 is amazing.

AC2 I think is gonna be up there to. I'm completely stuck.. idk what to choose to win. I'll say uhm. uncharted 2. and for xbox 360... borderlands? or forza 3 maybe? lol I also haven't heard anyone nominate L4D2 I think it's gonna be pretty good. I don't think it deserves GOTY, but they might title it GOTY.

It's all gonna be pretty close.

It'll be between Batman: AA, Borderlands, MW2, AC2 and DA:O. I'd go with Borderlands but those games will probably divide the GOTY awards with MW2 taking the lions share.
